There are many different programs on the market these days that claim detoxing your body with a series of herbs and vitamins is the way to go. A lot the materials that these companies use are synthetic and manufactured in a lab. I find this to be a tad puzzling... If we are looking to go back to nature and cleanse our digestive organs of things that shouldn't be there, isn't a more organic approach more appropriate? Cleaning out unnatural toxins with vitamins created by some scientist in a laboratory just seems wrong to me!

If you are unfamiliar with the whole cleansing and detox thing, here is an overview. Basically, as the world becomes more polluted, so does our body. The food we eat and the air we breathe just isn't natural anymore. Our foods are loaded with growth hormones and pesticides while our air is filled with dangerous gases. Cleanse diets are all about cleaning out the pipes and getting back to square one. Natural body detoxification goes one step further. It cleanses the body through the use of a strictly organic method. This means that there is no synthetic vitamins used. The natural detox outlined below is broken up into two steps - Cleansing and rejuvenating.

The cleansing portion of this program is just that - a cleansing process. It washes away all the toxins that have built up in your colon and digestive tract. Here's what you are going to do. For the next 5 days you're going to have to give up caffeine, alcohol and red meats. Now before you click the back button and get the heck away from this article, hear me out. It's important that you eat the right kind of these foods though. Here's a short outline. Good fats include extra virgin olive oil and avocados. There are good carbs as well. Don't believe Dr. Atkins when he tells you that carbohydrates aren't necessary. One of the best natural ways to detox your body is by eating whole grain breads. Avoid white breads and potatoes though. Good proteins are easy to find. As we mentioned in the cleansing section, stay away from red meats. You want to eat stuff like fish, soy and chicken.

You see, these detox programs are based on the idea that our bodies are constantly being exposed to dangerous toxins and poisons. Said toxins are found in our food, our air and our water. You should also give up smoking, drinking and eating saturated fats. Cigarettes and alcohol, in particular, are a definite no-no if you are looking to cleanse the body. As far as things you should be eating, here you go. There are really no surprises here. Eat a lot of natural foods. Fruits and vegetables are great. You'll also need plenty of water in your diet if you are trying to detox. Most cleansing diets recommend drinking 8 to 10 glasses of water a day. On top of these natural goodies, you should also consider taking some vitamins and herbal supplements. Q10, Choline and antioxidants are the most common used in cleansing programs.
