The Art of Nothing

You've probably come across a kid or two in your life time so it will come as no surprise that children can be fascinated by absolutely anything, whether it's a stick, a single building block or a piece of paper, a child under the age of about 8 years old can be entertained by the object for hours on end. People like you and I on the other hand cannot be entertained this easily (unfortunately). If I rubbed a magic lamp and got three wishes I would only need to make one 'Make grass entertaining' so that doing nothing could be really fun because doing nothing is a hard lifestyle but with practice and a bit of work one can truly master doing nothing. Once this art of doing nothing has been acquired one can look into the potential benefits of how to make money doing nothing and even take this one step further by finding out what it takes to become a success!

So while Sun Tsu can go and write The Art of War not only do I want to but I feel compelled to write about something that I am a master of; procrastination and ultimately feeling as if I have done so much but have really done nothing at all.

How to do nothing and Make Money Fast

Time Management

If I have one week to do something why should I do it now? Sure, I don't want to not do it but I do not need to get it out of the way because I can do it whenever I want. We have all been in this situation, you're kidding yourself if you haven't been. Why is this? Time Management is the answer. If you know something may take an hour, you set aside one hour to do the task and when the time comes (the day before), you do the task efficiently and effectively in that one hour. However, if you said "I'll do this one hour job sometime this week" you are a fool because you: a) Will not do it. b) will realise that I'm right and your wrong. So be effective at time management. Manage your time so you leave what ever it is as late as possible. This will work every time so long as you are realistic with the amount of time you set aside.

The Internet

Why was the internet invented? So anyone who can afford it can sit down for hours on end and give all the financially struggling people an opportunity to do something in society. If I have my education, charisma and a good CV there is no way disadvantaged people will get jobs. So be a good bloke and muck around on the internet and let the rest of society have the chance to live a little. The internet has to be one of the biggest scams in the history of the world. It leads you to believe that you are being social by participating on web sites or by playing online games, they fooled you didn't they? Right after you read this, you will leave a comment saying "LOL - This is all so true" thinking that you have socialised with Jackson Riddle from Australia. What's worse is your paying for this. Google is not free, hub pages is not free, you are lining the pockets of corporate fat cats in the industry to search forums, read crap, "engage" with others and use the internet. These same CEO's then laugh all the way to the bank when the common user then purchases something on the internet. If you spend $50 a month on internet and then buy something for $1 via e-bay, guess what that cost you $51! A pretty stupid move if you ask me. It seems like I've gotten off-topic, I really haven't though.

Pondering

If you've ever seen Home Alone (the first one) then you may recall that the kid who gets left at home ponders about his adventures at the end of the movie, who the hell ponders? The next day I was amazed that I too pondered. Pondering has to be the best waste of time for me, I love it, it's my drug and I'm hooked. Pondering on such topics as MLM scams, writing an awesome novel, becoming a pro-athlete, changing your career are some great starting points if you're a rookie at pondering. These pondering sessions can take place at great locations like your window sill, bed, car seat any much any location where sexual activity can take place pondering can often happen there too. Although you may not preoccupy too much time pondering it really makes 5min feel like 30min therefor I try and ponder for at least 2 hours a day which means I get an extra 12 hours per day, it's like a really good daylight savings change.

Talk yourself up

By increasing your ego you can achieve a great sense of satisfaction during the majority of your day. If you choose to criticise other peoples work, praise yourself or tell yourself that you could have said or done something better then you will generally be a much happier person. It's not worth saying "how much better someone else" and crying yourself to sleep when you can just say "That's crap" to yourself about someones work, this makes you feel good and superior. A large ego is a necessity to surviving in this world, become the hunter not the hunted.

Make Money Doing Nothing

Who was that that told you that you have to do something to make or earn money? It was probably some old man who was paid $0.30 a day during the industrial revolution, so don't listen to him, listen to me. How do I know? Well, I think I know a bit about doing nothing and I know a bit about making money. Put them together and you get a chemical reaction that will knock your socks off. Here is what you have to do.

Rule 1 - To make money you have got to spend money, so if you see some cheesy looking website offeringa work at home job for $50,000 a week after you register, sign up and tell them your bank details and all this time saying it's free, you are in an Indian knife fight without a knife. So if you want to make money from something you will most likely have to spend a small amount of money, however thoroughresearch of every venture is recommended , for all you know this guy might only be offering you $50,000 and week and another guy is offering you $75,000 but seriously there are some real jerks out there so buyer beware, on fast money and on not spending money.

Rule 2 - Make Money Trading. Some people may associate this with doing something. Finding a broker, looking for a good stock, actually investing in it, sounds like hard work right? Wrong. There are plenty of brokers out there who will do most of this for you for low commission, look at Bernie Madoff, he can promise you a steady return of 12% per Annum even if the markets go down! Sorry for misleading you I was just told that Bernie "Made off" with $8billion dollars. So don't trust people who seem trustworthy and offer you garunteed steady returns.

Rule 3 - Send me $10 and I might decide to tell you how to make money from doing nothing. You might be able to achieve $50,000 a week from this job at home! With this money, you can then ask me to invest it in ventures and will give returns of up to 1% a month regardless if the market drops significantly. Feel free to message me for more details. You can trust me!

Rule 4 - If you aren't the best con(fidence) man and you really want to try and make some money a more legit way, you may want to write articles like this one. Sign up for FREE via this link for more details and start making some money!

So really, becoming a master of doing nothing and making money doing nothing can be attained by adhering to some of these topics. Doing nothing is not something that can be achieved easily though, it takes an incredible amount of hard work and dedication to do nothing for hours on end so you should consider if this lifestyle is right for you. Please feel free to leave a comment if you think something should be added to this article.

Ok, I'm feeling kind of bad now. So if you really want to make some money heres a link to a great hub on just how to do it. Before you do that though I will share with you a great tip. Currently I get around 3-5 sign ups per week which is about $100 a month from people simply making a FREE website - when you log in and after you have made a website you can join their affilaite program too which will get $5 per sign up for everyone that signs up to their FREE hosting - Sign Up for FREE web Hosting here.

Well, Jackson, I thought the humour a little forced but I got a grin or two, anyway. I liked the cheeky pic of Harry Potter, the best, and the pics were the best part, for me. Good luck and welcome to HubPages.

Jackson Riddle.I set out reading this thinking you were going to tell me your secret in making money doing nothing only to discover that you have not said how to make money doing nothing. OK I may be a little confused at this point but I get the jist of your hub and the point is....you cannot make money doing nothing. Now maybe a change of title. Only joking I found this amusing and so true for many of us who also spend are days pondering. Pondering is so much like day dreaming and the escape is both refreshing and inspiring if you actually do anything about your ponderings.

@Helen, thanks for the praise. You did scare me lol in the early part of your comment though, glad to find out it was only a joke (just like you found my hub, no doubt). Nevertheless thanks again :)

Interesting...I like it. It is funny how so many people make money by telling others how to make money doing nothing, but they actually tell them how to do something to make money. Quite the conundrum.

@Jeffrey Neal, I agree defining what nothing is is hard to do. That's why I chose to do nothing about it. No pun intended but hey, it works.

Great hub Jackson, very clever. I am a ponderer too and would not have it any other way. Looking forward to reading more of your work in the future.
