Apple allows you to download applications on the iTouch to do more with the device than just play music, watch videos or fiddle around with.  The iTouch allows you to utilize a Wi-Fi connection to not only download applications but also to purchase music, play games with others over the Internet and even watch videos from YouTube.  As long as you are connected to the web, you can take advantage of downloads on your iTouch.

There are two ways to download applications on the iTouch, first you can connect your iTouch to a computer. Load iTunes and once it picks up your iTouch, you can navigate to the iTunes Music Store and begin to search through applications, games and more. You can either buy and download applications on the iTouch or you can pick out free ones to use.

As long as you are connected to an uninterrupted Internet source, you can download applications on the iTouch – free or by purchase – to your heart's content. You do this by going to the Application icon on the iTouch home screen. Once the Applications screen loads, you can begin to go through various applications based on their genre. iTunes offers two types of applications: Free and paid. Paid applications range from $0.99 to $4.99 and up. Many applications have trial free versions, too. Simply click on the Install button, iTunes will prompt you to sign in if you have not already and it will begin to download. Once downloaded, you will be able to start using the application immediately.

You can browse applications via the iTunes Music Store, via the Applications feature or by looking for them online.  Many websites have compiled a list of iTouch applications, both paid and free, that are the top of their class.  iTunes also ranks the popularity of applications so you can see what is being downloaded the most.
