How to Download Music to PSP - Download and Listen to Music on PSP

Here are the steps you need to take in order to be able to listen to music from your PSP.

1. Collect Your Music.

There are many different sources where you can get music files for your PSP. At this point don't worry about the format of the music files. Just collect the music you want to put on your PSP and put them in folder on your pc. Here are a few ideas on where you can get music:

- Rip the music from your existing CD collection onto your pc.

- Download mp3 music from the internet

Now that you have compiled your music collection it's time to make sure the files are the right format for playing on your PSP. The music has to be in mp3 format so if the music that you have isn't in this format, you'll need to use a converter such as the Sony image converter to convert the files to mp3 format. The latest PSP firmware may support other types of formats such as WMA or Windows Media files.

3. Connect Your PSP Device to Your Computer

Use a USB cable to connect your PC to your PSP, and then press the home button on your PSP. You can use the 'Up' and 'Down' buttons on your PSP device to find the USB connection. Pressing the X button on your PSP will display the USB connection. Your PC will tell you that there's a new USB device and will attempt to automatically install it depending on the version of windows that you're using. After installation, the USB will show up as a new drive on your pc.

4. Copy or Download Music from Your Computer to Your PSP.

On your computer identify the correct drive corresponding to the USB that connects to your PSP. Browse to your PSP and look for the folder PSP and open it. Inside this folder, you'll find another folder called MUSIC. This is where you'll put your music files. If these folders are not already on your PSP, then do the following. Open the PSP file system and create a new folder there called 'PSP'. Open the new folder you've just created and create another folder inside it called 'MUSIC'. Now use your computer to download and copy all your music files onto the PSP music folder. After you're done copying the files, press the o button on your PSP to disconnect the PSP from the PC. It's now safe to unplug the USB cable from your pc and from your PSP.

5. To Play And Listen To Music On Your PSP.

Use the arrows on your PSP to find the music area and choose the music folder by pressing the x button. You should now be able to see all the music files you downloaded to your PSP.
