How to Draw 5 Minute 'Moving' Pictures!

Tips

1. Ideally choose a rhythmic, back and forth action.

2. Try colouring each picture different and see what happens.

3. Share this trick with someone; share the delight!

How to draw magically moving pictures in five minutes!

This is how I made the pictures move in my book, 'Grandma's Eyes.' This is a great way you can entertain kids and even adults. When they see the pictures move like magic, they are sure to be impressed. That is, if they had not seen it before.

The picture on the left shows me entertaining a big bunch of kids and their parents, teaching them this.

The videos are self-explanatory. You fold a sheet of paper in half.

Then you draw on the half at the bottom.

Now you draw on the top one, using the 'show-through' of the paper.

Now flip and flap, to see your drawing move!

I made a whole picture book using this; it was published this year.

The above clip shows you how I made a puppy wag its tail. The one below should give you more ideas: making pendulums swing, birds fly, and suns glow. If you have any new idea to add, send me your tips!

how really nifty! I saw the title and at first I thought you meant 'flip books' like we used to make in our notebooks in school when we were supposed to be listening to the teacher.

this is very cool!

I have to share it with my grandson now as my last child graduated, took a job, moved out and turned into a grown up this last summer. I am empty nesting. :(

I do have a beautiful 3 year old grandson and I shall test your idea on him. :D

Great stuff. I'm going to try it on my grandchildren, too. specially like the eyes - but the puppy's dead cute, too. Chennai? I've been there. Fabulous place. And I gather the Tsunami unveiled the site of some ancient temples? Is that true?

Hi Shahrukh! Thanks for liking my puppy!

Yes, the tsunami threw up an ancient site.
Also a small Buddha, from Thailand or Burma, possibly.
It's true, and was on the BBC, too.

Hi Eileen, I guess being speechless is also a compliment!

Hope you and the children have great fun with the book, G-Ma. I feel so proud to have done that book now! Very rarely I get reactions from real readers! You know how it is, people who know you will love the book if they love you; biased reactions!

Take rest, and do your next hub when you can!

Hugs,

Kenny
