If you live where it gets cold, you probably have two different wardrobes: summer and winter. When the leaves start changing, you know its time to put away your flip flops and pull out the boots. I believe it is harder to look good in the winter than it is in the summer. In the summer, all you need to do is throw on a cute sundress, or wear a frilly tanktop with shorts. In the winter, it feels like you have to bundle up with thousands of layers... and of course wear the dreaded marshmellow coat!

This guide will give you tips on different looks in the winter, how to wear different winter items, and fashion must-haves for winter. Dressing for the cold will be fun!

These cute sweaters are extremely in-style this winter. They are ideal because they are warm, but not too warm and bulky. Cardigans can be worn in a variety of ways. Long cardigans, can be worn with any shirt or even a tank top. It is best to keep the shirt a neutral color and let the cardigan stand out. Wear one of these sweaters with skinny jeans on the bottom to balance the volume on the top. These can be done with any type of footwear and look great. Mix and match cardigans with different footwear and colors of shirts. Button the buttons or leave it undone. Roll up the sleeves for a casual look. There are endless options with cardigans.

It's hard to look good while wearing a huge puffy jacket. Many people avoid wearing winter jackets for this very reason. However, you can find a cute coat at many places. Peacoats are very chic this season
and make you look skinnier! They usually sell in black or white, so you can choose the best to meet your needs. If you get a longer one you can also wear them with leggings or tights and cute booties!
For a little edgier style try a plaid coat.These are warm and look good. You can rock them with skinny jeans and they make a statement all by themselves.

These dresses are very in. They can have a a big cowl neck or even a v-neck. Knit dresses are great because they are tight on all the right places. If you get a plain one, dress it up with some large dramatic necklaces. You can wear these with leggings/tights or even skinny jeans!

 Scarves are one of my favorite items. They can be worn in either the summer or the winter, but in the winter they serve a purpose of keeping you warm! There are a variety of ways to tie them. You can wrap one once around your neck and let the sides dangle. Or, you can put it around your neck and tie a knot at the front letting the two sides hang together under the knot. I like to fold the scarf in half, put across my neck, and put the ends through the other side. It is quick and simple, and looks best when tucked under a winter coat. A scarf can dress up an entire outfit. You can throw on a scarf quickly with a plain colored shirt and skinny jeans. You can tuck them into your winter coats, or wear with a matching shirt. I'd reccomend buying a plain black and white scarf to go with anything. I would also buy a colorful scarf to go on top of plain clothing. I would also buy scarves with metallic undertones or sparkle to brighten underneath a plain winter coat.

 Time to pack away the beach bag and shop for a new purse! Oversized and colorful is great this season, but you still can't get by without a classic black bag. Personally, I still love the purple bags we're seeing all over. Bags are coming out with more studs and "armor" this season as well. Make sure you have a purse that matches both your boots and your coats.

 Ugg boots are still in. While some consider them ugly, they are extremely versatile. You can wear them with mini-skirts or even dresses! I like to tuck my skinny jeans into them. Ankle high booties are also very trendy this season. You can get boots in every color with many different designs and heights. Personally, I would have boots in both brown and black. Definitely make sure you have boots to match your main winter coat. I would buy both fancy and plain style boots, so you can vary your looks.
