As I was researching for a recent nutrition talk, I read a few statistics about the health of Americans that shocked me. I realized that people were out of shape and overweight, but these statistics really blew my mind! Check em out:
90% of amercians’ food budget is spent on processed foods
50% of amercians food budget is spent eating out
I truly believe this is THE reason why Americans are fat and sick! The main reason for these stats is our laziness. We eat whatever is easiest sacrificing the quality and nutritional value of the food. So, if you don’t want those results, then this page is designed to help you improve your eating habits by learning to shop more carefully.
The core of good eating starts with eating whole foods: the real thing, grown in the ground, caught on the hook, raised on the range or laid in the nest. The difficult part is how to actually find the whole foods in America today.

It All Starts At The Grocery Store
We usually begin at the grocery store. Most local stores have a hint of fresh foods, surrounded by a mass of brightly packaged, highly marketed, strategically placed, processed foods that distract the common consumer and lead them to a life of obesity. These processed foods look good, smell good and taste even better. Unfortunately, they are the main reason why people are gaining weight, sick and confused about healthy eating.
Proper and balanced eating programs includes a lot of areas…
its not just whether or not you eat carbs. A great nutrition program includes a balanced variety of natural, organic vegetables, fruits, meat, nuts, grains and other natural foods. I will walk you though the ‘what to eat’, ‘why you eat it’, and the ‘what you’ll get’, so you understand the best way to get lean and stay healthy.
Here are a few basic guidelines to help you get thru the store safely:
• Don’t go to the store hungry. If you’re hungry, you’re more likely to buy everything. • Bring a list. Do not allow yourself to buy whatever sounds good. Go in with a plan. • Read labels. If you can’t pronounce it, don’t eat it! • Stay around the perimeter of the store. You’ve heard this 100 times, but do you use it? Here’s an outline of the areas of the store to visit: • Produce. Fresh fruits, vegetables and herbs. Buy a rainbow of colors. • Refrigerator. Eggs and limited dairy. • Butcher. Steak, chicken, fish and other meats • Middle isles. Various oils, spices, vinegars and other approved extras *(see shopping list for specific ideas)Purchase organic foods as much as possible. Why organic?
The number 1 weight loss stumbling block, a liver overloaded with pollutants and toxins, cannot burn body fat, and thus will sabotage your weight/fat loss efforts. You should also keep in mind that excessive toxins from conventional plant and animal foods overload your liver and encourage extra fat to form around your midsection, whether you are a man or a woman. The more toxic and/or dehydrated you are, the thicker the layer of fluid becomes, making you appear chubbier or bloated. By eating organic, grass fed and free range foods, you will see significant improvements in the results of your program.
No organic foods?
Search for local Farmer’s markets. They are usually a good way to find locally grown, organic foods. Also, look online for free range, organic meats. Many can be shipped directly to your door.

Now that you have a general idea about the foods you SHOULD be buying, here’s a list of the foods that you should never buy:
• Donuts • Soda • Fried foods • Chips • Frozen dinnersAll of these items are filled with sugars, additives, preservatives, unhealthy oils, refined grains and other mysterious items that will absolutely wreck your health, fitness and energy. most people who are overweight or unhealthy have a vague idea that their poor diet may be contributing to it. they probably know a change of lifestyle is necessary, but the very thought of making adjustments can be overwhelming. this article breaks that process down into some very simple, very applicable steps and should encourage any one to give it a try.
