The first thing you need to know is that pomegranates are messy! You need to be very careful when eating it and probably shouldn't wear a white shirt! The second thing you need to know is that you eat the seeds. Many people don't understand that the seeds are where the juice is. You can just eat them by themselves, put them in a salad or blend them into a smoothy.
So here is how you get the yummy seeds out to eat:
1. Cut the crown off the top of the fruit (the knobby part sticking out the top).
2. Score the rind of the pomagranate in several places. Do not cut all the way through the fruit!
3. Next soak the fruit upside down in water for about 10 minutes.
4. Once you have soaked it it is time to remove the seeds. Break about the membrane and gently loosen the seeds. They will fall out and float to the bottom of your bowl of water. You do not want to eat the rind or the white membrane. This will all float to the top.
5. Remove the white parts and the rind and then drain your seeds from the water. Now the seeds are ready to eat!
This, of course, is the cleanest way to eat the pomegranate! You can always just slice it down the middle and dig in....but remember....the juice stains...so be careful!
