Heal Teeth Naturally

There is a mainstream method to healing tooth pain. It involves regular dental visits, daily brushing and flossing and filling cavities. For many years this was the treatment that I followed. Each cavity that appeared, I got filled. When there got to be a lot, I started using a prescription fluoride toothpaste. That was supposed to make the painful hot and cold sensitivity go away, but it did not. A couple teeth cracked and I got crowns. I had a couple root canals. One day, a tooth that had a root canal done started becoming painful. I had an endodontist retreat it and another crown placed, but the pain didn't go away. That is when I read the book Cure Tooth Decay: Heal and Prevent Cavities With Nutrition. The premise behind it is to use a specific diet to build the calcium and enamel in your teeth.

The diet was very difficult to follow and I knew the results would not be immediate. It required me to give up a few of my favorite foods. I cut sugar out of my diet and I started drinking whole, raw milk. I also tried to opt for organic foods whenever my budget allowed.

The book made another recommendation, which I studied about. It was to stop using fluoride toothpaste. It actually suggested that fluoride weakened teeth instead of strengthening them. Here I was using extra strength fluoride and not getting any sensitivity relief and still getting cavities.

After some online research, I found a natural toothpaste called Restore. It had Novamin technology,  which was supposed to enhance the enamel on your teeth and eliminate the tooth sensitivity.  Novamin claims to restore lost tooth minerals and strengthen teeth, rebuild the tooth surface, and kill bacteria associated with cavities without the use of fluoride.  I started using the Restore toothpaste and noticed a difference within a couple weeks.  I have been able to drink cold drinks and even eat ice cream without noticing any pain. It has been wonderful. I feel a twinge of guilt when I drive past my former dentists office, but my mouth has never felt better and I can't justify going back to conventional dentistry without pain.

A tooth with a root canal should feel no pain because the root (Nerve) is removed during the procedure. A dead root can not cause pain. So something else is going on. I would never go to a dentist for a root canal. Always go to an Endodontist. Sounds like it is time for you to switch Dentists and find someone who is really good. A Good dentist will no longer use metal fillings because it destroys too much of the tooth during preparation. The amalgam is placed using undercuts (Think upside down mushroom). The newer materials not only match your teeth but require less live material to be removed. Thus over time the potential for cracking (which is common with amalgam fillings) is greatly reduced. This reduces your chances of needing root canals.

Thanks for telling me I should feel no pain. I actually didn't have pain after the dentist did the root canal for five years. The endodontist retreated it, but it never quite felt right until I completely changed my diet and toothpaste.
