How to Find a Great Internet Network Marketing Mentor or Coach

Many people recognize that an MLM business is a great opportunity (heralded by such financial leaders as Robert Kiyosaki, Donald Trump and Bill Clinton). They also know that most people who get involved in network marketing don't have great success. As the network marketing industry undergoes massive change with the advent of the Internet, it is an especially important time to look for help in building your business. For one thing, a great network marketing mentor or training program will help you significantly shorten your learning curve. But there are so many "gurus" out there, some of whom come with a very steep price tag. This article will help you identify what to look for in an internet network marketing mentor or training program.

If you have worked in network marketing for any length of time, then you have probably come across two major challenges: finding qualified leads and duplicating your results. You have probably approached your family and friends, perhaps even strangers at the park or store, and maybe spent time and money calling cold leads. While some people have great success with these methods, they don't work for the majority. At least not well enough to build a significant business.

If you have reached this point and are tired of going in circles, or if you are new to network marketing and want to get off to a good start, then it is time to look for new solutions. After five years of working leads and warm market, I had had enough. I spent months searching the Internet to learn new ways of building my business. I soon realized that there was a whole new way of building a network marketing business and that the Internet was the key. I wanted to learn everything but realized that if I was going to get up the learning curve quickly, I needed help.

The first step that led me on the right path was Ann Sieg's free ebook, The 7 Great Lies of Network Marketing, it was such a relief. Ann pinpointed the very same frustrations I was experiencing with network marketing. It felt so good to know that I wasn't alone! I then bought her ebook, The Renegade Network Marketer, and again was amazed by her insights. I was relieved to learn that I didn't have to chase after people (whether it be family, friends or leads) to grow my business. Rather I could attract them to me via the internet by providing them with value upfront.

As excited as I was by the principles Ann teaches, I still wasn't sure how to get things up and running. One thing was clear: you could spend months online trying to learn how to create an online business, but if you want to speed up your progress and achieve real results, then it is imperative to invest in some training.

After much research and testing, there are two programs I can highly recommend.

For people who are new to internet marketing, or those who have a downline and want a duplicatable training system, the best fit is The 90 Day Marketer, created by McKay Earl. It ties together all the pieces of the puzzle, showing you how affiliate marketing, internet marketing and network marketing all work together.

McKay's true gift is his ability to create a logical flow that carries you through the process. His focus is on education and he provides a step-by-step system that teaches you exactly how to attract people to you, how to build a relationship with them, and how to coach them to success. It's truly a system of duplication - something so critical yet often so lacking in network marketing.

McKay just launched a new 90 Day Marketer program that is not specifically geared to network marketing, but is for anyone who wants to create an online business. It is incredible how much information he packs into each lesson without being overwhelming in the least. His straightforward and concise videos and step-by-step program take you by the hand and show you everything you need to know about starting an online business, from brainstorming on business ideas, to social media, article marketing, video marketing and auto-responders.

Another great bonus for The 90 Day Marketer is that you get free coaching from McKay and his team. He holds live Q&A sessions every week (that are recorded) and you have access to a help desk and email support. It's truly great value.

McKay also offers an Accelerated Coaching Program, which is by invitation only. That is the program I chose to do and it has helped me tremendously. The greatest benefit of this program is that it offers even more one-on-one coaching and support.

The next step in your training should be Renegade University, a program started by Mike Klingler. Renegade University offers valuable free training, and you can upgrade to Renegade Professional for the most extensive internet marketing training you will find.

Rcently, Ann Sieg joined forces with Mike Klingler to relaunch Renegade Professional, skyrocketing the value and success of this program. When it relaunched in April 2009, over 40,000 people were waiting to get in.

Renegade Professional is a tremendous wealth of information, with particular emphasis on social marketing techniques. It teaches you about blogging, article marketing, writing with pull, social networking, social bookmarking and a lot more.

Mike is a truly gifted teacher. He uses video tutorials and click-by-click training so you can really follow along, one step at a time. Mike makes sure never to leave the beginners behind, but there is so much meat in his program that internet marketers of all levels will find more helpful information than you can imagine.

When you join Renegade Professional you are joining more than a training program. You are joining a community of like-minded people. The support you will get from Renegade Professional members is incredible. Here you will find a true abundance mentality whereby people give without expecting to receive.

Due to the excess demand, Renegade Professional is temporarily closed to new members but you can still access some free internet marketing training through Renegade Univeristy, and get on the waiting list for when Renegade Professional reopens its doors. You can also find some valuable training at Renegade Pro Blog, including training on Twitter and Squidoo.

There are lots of other gurus out there, too many to name them all. One of the top one is Mike Dillard, creator of Magnetic Sponsoring and Black Belt Recuriting. I know that so many people are big fans of Mike Dillard and while I respect him and those who follow him, as a matter of personal choice I just don't like his style of teaching.

Mentoring for Free is a great coaching resource that helps you understand personality types, compensation plans and building relationships. It's a completely free program and you can have access to a mentor as well as live and recorded trainings. You can also get a free ebook called 10 Steps to Success.I personally didn't find the training extensive enough to help me with what I needed. There is a lot of emphasis on personality types and compensation plans, and I really wanted more nuts and bolts training on everything related to internet marketing.

There are other gurus you can look into, like Seth Godin and John Reese. My only caution is to be careful before investing any money in a training program. You can end up spending a lot of money with little or no return on your investment.

There are certain criteria you should look for in an internet network marketing mentor or training program.

Look at the training style of the trainer, and make sure it's one you can best learn from and enjoy. You will be spending many hours with that person (inviting him or her into your home via your computer) so make sure you enjoy their personality, style and even the sound of his or her voice. I know that sounds strange, but we tend to tune out people and noises that annoy us.

Also, find a training program that is comprehensive, and that will continue to grow and expand so you can continue to learn new things.

From a financial perspective, understand that most training systems are also affiliate marketing programs. That is an excellent opportunity, because you can monetize as you learn! Both Renegade Professional and The 90 Day Marketer are affiliate marketing programs so you can promote them and earn great commissions.

Third, find an internet marketing training program that is right for you. Also, look for a mentor you can work with to help guide you. While most internet marketing training programs are intended to be self-guided, the person from whom you purchase the program should act as your guide or mentor.
