How to Fix Sweating Hands Permanently

Are you suffering from sweaty hands, also known as palmar hyperhidrosis? (If we want to get technical)

My goal when writing this page is to give you an option on how to fix sweaty hands you haven't proably thought about before..

First, are you having any of the following problems?

  • You fear shaking other peoples hands because your own are so sweaty
  • You are hiding your sweaty hands at social occations, such as dinners
  • You need to carry a spare towel with you to constantly wipe your hands clean from sweat
  • You have trouble holding objects because you hands are so slippery, for example: golf clubs, baseball bats
  • You have trouble playing musical instruments because it's hard to get a good grip

If any of the points seems familliar to you, then You will be positively surprised about what I'm about to reveal to you.

Chances are that you already have heard of these conventional palm sweating treatments.

Doctors and sweat specialists generally recomend the following treatments:

  • ETS surgery
  • Botox injections
  • Iontophoresis devices

ETS surgery

This is a surgery that seems to be at the top of which the doctors recommend. Not hard to understand when you hear the price tag of this operation. Depending if you have a good insurance or not, it will cost you up to $15000 if not more.

Let me tell you how this surgery is performed...

First the doctor will make two small insicions close to your armpit. One of the "holes" will be used with a small camera so the surgeon can see the whole operation. Through the other hole a long sharp needle will be put to puncture on of your lungs. The surgeon does this to gain access to the symphatic nerve which runs along your spine.

Then the surgeon will cut off the part that controls the weat glands in your palms, making this operation irrevirsible.

Your palms will get very dry from this operation, even so dry that most patients will regret that they went through the operation. They need to constantly need to apply hand lotion so the hands will keep its natural moist. A lot of patient also complain that their hands have now been so dry that they cannot hold an object. Their hands are so slippery because the friction the moist delivered is gone. Also a lot of patients says that their sense of touch has been altered. Their palms stings as soon they touch a paper, a glass etc.

But the main point why you should try to avoid this operation at all cost is that almost everyone who undergoes this operation develops compensatory sweating. This means that you will start to sweat more on other places of your body just to compensate for the sweat glands that were lost.

So basically you transfer the problem to another part of your body with this surgery.

This last side effect is a good indication that the operation is a complete waste of time. Not only does it target the wrong part of the body, but it can also be dangerous. You should not try to tamper with your body's temperature regulating system. It's nothing wrong with the physical nerves or sweat glands. The problem is located elsewere, more on that soon. Lets go through with the other two sweaty palms treatments.

Botox Injections

This is also a very popular treatment recommended by doctors to cure sweating hands. A single botox shot will cost from $300 - $600 depending where you live and you will need to undergo this treatment 2-3 times a year, sometimes even more. This is a treatment that you constantly need to do. it's not permanent.

It works like this:

The doctor injects a nerve poison called butolium toxin type A in the sweat glands of your palms making them paralysed and reduce their ability to produce sweat.

This is a very costly operation and it's not guaranteed to work for everyone. Side effects of this sweaty hands treatment is rashes and numbness.

Iontophoresis Devices

These devices looks like two water baths. You fill them up with water and then current is being run from one side to another. Then you place either your hands or feet in these baths so that current will run through them. The current the paralyses your sweat glands making them to produce less sweat.

This operation looks to be good but it rarely works. Your palms seems to develop some sort of immunity after a while. Plus, these devices costs about $900.

This treatment is also very unpleasant and the effects doesn't last very long.

Now you might wonder if there are any treatment that will fix palmar hyperhidrosis?

Well, do you remember when I talked about the ETS treatment and that it didn't target the right part of the body.

You see, you have an overactive sympathetic nerve system. Oh boy, that seemd complicated, but trust me it's not...

The sympathetic nerve system handles many things in your body. One of those things is the temperature. At its help it has the "eccerine" sweat glands which are the type of glands that produce sweat to regulate the temperature. (There one other type and it's called "apocerine" sweat glands and they are the ones that produce your body odor)

Anyway, the problem is that your sympathetic nerve system is on full alert when it should be on normal alert. Instead of sending out 1 signal to your hands it's sending out 10.

Here comes a controversy. Doctors say that the sympathetic nerve system is full automated and it cannot be influenced you your thought.

It's true that this system is automated (meaning that you don't need to think for it to work). But they are wrong when they say that this system cannot be influenced by you.

You can influence this system. You can even change it completely. You can cool this system down to only send out 1 signal to your sweat glands instead of 10. And guess what!

It's not hard.. It's actually quite easy when you know what to do!

Did you know that by introducing one item to your daily meals, you will be able to reduce 95% of your bodys sweating.

If you've read the book "control the sweat naturally" you will know how easy it is to get this item and how cheap it is.

The book is a short cut to what I'm going to talk about next.

This is the story on how I cured my sweating and it trust me! It's not what you think!

Now, I would like to mention another proof that you can actually influence the automatic systems in your body.

Another of the automatic systems in your body is your breathing. You don't need to breath manually right?

Long story short. I'm doing kundalini yoga, and It's a form of yoga that don't require you to sit in a position for 10 hours. I'm doing it because it makes me feel relaxed.

Anyway, in this form of yoga, it's said that if you learn to control your breathing you can become invincible.

Not like superman but I let it to you to decide what invincible means.

Yogi Bhajan put it this way..

"Evolved human beings have a very calm breath.

Normally you breathe fifteen times a minute.

  • If you breathe ten times a minute you'll be very energetic.
  • If you breathe five times a minute you'll be very intelligent.
  • If you breathe one time a minute you will become invincible.

The power of breath should be under your own control." Yogi Bhajan.

I read this text and I got interested..

I went to my teacher and I got an exercise that would learn me how to take less breaths per minute.

A breath is made up by a Breathe in, then a hold, then the exhale.

The exercise goes like this. I sit down and then I start to inhale, then I hold, then I exhale.

So if I breath in for 5 seconds I should hold for 5 seconds, then I should exhale for 5 seconds.

The optimum is to inhale for 20 seconds, hold for 20 seconds and then exhale for 20 seconds = 1 breath per minute =)

It's very hard to start with 20 seconds so I started with 8 seconds. I promised myself to do this exercise until I would manage the optimal 20 seconds..

So I begun to do this exercise every day, 10 minutes per day.

I after a few days I felt that I could increase the time to 10 seconds, then 12, then 15.

Funny thing was that I started to feel like I could control my own thoughts. If there where a thought I didn't like I could easily just say "gone" and it would be erased from my mind. I couldn't do this in the past. One thought could torture me for hours without going away.

When I noticed this I started I started to wonder what would happen if I could manage 20 seconds.

It took me 3 months to reach my goal.. I could now breathe in for 20 seconds then hold for 20 seconds and then exhale for 20 seconds.

I noticed that my general breath had slow down to about 10 - 12 seconds per minute. It used to be well over 15 seconds.

I also noticed another thing which I think is so cool!

I would not sweat when I was in a warm room or doing exercise. It's soo cool.

In the past I would sweat like a waterfall as soon I exercised or walked indoors. But now, nothing!

I had erased my excessive sweating problems and all I did was to control my breath.

I understand now that everything is connected. You know, your breath is connected to your body, but it's also connected to your mind and your nerve system.

So by slowing down your breath, you also slow down your mind which makes you think more clearly. Most importantly, you slow down your nerve system so it starts to send 1 signal to your sweat glands instead of 10!

After all when you experience something like this, you start to imagine what you actually are capable of.

You can be the master of your body and your life and all it takes is to control your breath.

If you think you would never manage to do this for so long, then remember these words:

I noticed change in my sweating and my body temperature within a few weeks. The effect became stronger the further I went, until I stopped my excessive sweating completely.

I tried a product called Ghost Grip (www.ghostgrip.com) because my hands sweat a lot when playing baseball, not sure if it were nerves or not but it helped during the games. The product was fairly cheap as well.

Thank you!

I really believe that you can fix this condition naturally. Balancing your nerve system by using your breath is how I did it.

God bless you and I hope you will find success!

I have a bad case of hyperhidrosis. I sweat not only in my palms but everywhere - my feet, armpits, face, neck, torso, abdomen. Everywhere. I've been sweating like this for as long as I can remember. I sweat regardless of the weather regardless of whether I am calm or excited. You have no idea how many towels and how many changes of clothes I have to bring with me every time I go out. I too took up kundalini yoga about two years back and noticed some minor improvements, but only minor mind you. I'm still practising kundalini yoga, but because it calms my mind, not because it helps with my sweating.

Let me get to the point:

1. People who freak out about their sweaty palms are annoying little bitches who don't know how really embarassing it is to have extreme hyperhidrosis.

2. In my experience, people who cite this, that or some other miracle cure for hyperhidrosis are either opportunistic conmen or fanciful fairies who think positive thinking will solve everything.

3. Hyperhidrosis can be very debilitating. It can shackle lives. But, if you don't let hyperhidrosis or anyone else's rude attitudes bother you, you can lead a pretty normal life. But note, I'm saying "pretty normal". I still have to deal with rude stares and rude questions, not to mention the years and years of painful taunting.

In conclusion:

Edit or remove this page if you can because you sound like a bloody idiot. I sense sincerity in your words, but your advice strikes me as nothing more than a few layers of newspaper as shelter from the rain.

Tack sa mycket

Every opinion is welcome! =)

BTW what meditations/exercises do you do?

Do you perform sadhana each morning?

Because I've suffered from a milder condition of hyperhidrosis I know what's causing it ---> Sympathetic nerve system. Balancing this system is key.

Yoga will work with your nerve systems and balancing them up. If you begin to practice yoga you will depending on how ambitious you are see results in one and another way.

If you can, you should look up a kundalini yoga teacher and ask of him or hers opinion about your condition. They have a whole organization behind them they can consult. (This means access to very concious people who know what to do)

God bless you!
