How to Gain Weight with Natural Supplements
73
When it comes to weight gaining, there is a whole range of methods and techniques that one can adopt in order to meet the target. But the method to be opted varies from person to person. Every person has a different body plan and thus his needs are also different from others. It also depends upon the person's preference of nutrients and various other factors like – how fast one needs to gain weight, how much weight one wants to gain, what his daily schedule is, what are his eating habits, what kind of work is he involved in etc. Thus these kinds of factors matter a lot while preparing a diet chart for weight gaining.
- Completing the Diet Chart
Usually people are not able to meet their daily nutrient requirements after planning to gain weight. They find it difficult to eat that much amount of food that is required to complete the everyday diet chart. For those people, weight gain supplements like shakes and pills are some good options. Weight gain products can help the person by providing a balanced and well-nutrition diet, which is healthy too, at the same time.
- Choosing Supplements
While choosing the correct supplement, one must keep in mind his calorie chart. The best supplement for a person is one that completes the requirements which can’t be fulfilled by the natural food. For example- if a person is taking a diet which meets with his energy nutrients needs, i.e. a diet rich in carbohydrates and fats, then he must look for supplements that contain proteins and minerals as the major nutrient.
- Protein Requirements
Proteins form an essential part of our body. Our body is 20% protein by weight. A protein is any chain of amino acids that is a small molecule which acts as a building block of any cell. The RDA (recommended daily allowance) for protein is 0.36 grams of protein per pound of body weight. So, a 150 pound person needs 54 grams of proteins per day. While aiming to gain weight, the amount of protein required is even more. Thus one should opt for protein supplements. Supposing you are able to meet your protein requirements easily with a protein-rich diet but not the energy contains, then you can do the vice versa.
- Breaking up your Meals
Another thing to be kept under check is that one shouldn’t try to consume all the calories of a day in just one or two meals. One should break his meal into smaller meals and try to eat within short intervals of time. It has been revealed by various studies that calories intake in a steady flow, benefits the body more that consuming all in one go.
- Increasing Muscles, not Fat
One should carefully keep under notice that the supplements he is choosing to gain weight don’t contribute to the fat of the body. Our aim is to increase the body weight through muscle building and not by increasing fat.

Awesome hub Kerry! Very informative and I really enjoyed reading it. I especially liked the fact that you shared about choosing supplements and the RDA for protein. Choosing supplements can be very confusing at times as you may not be truly certain if you have chosen the right supplement that fits your lifestyle. It's very important that you really need to gave information on the supplements you plan in taking or purchasing. Not every supplement could give you the results you want because each individual has different reactions to each supplement.
There are lots of reviews in the internet and one that I have found that has been of great help is http://www.supplementmania.com. They provide you with reviews of supplements that are effective as they have used it or have had past experiences with these supplements. You could also give your own reviews about the supplements you may have had good or unpleasant experiences with.
Keep up the good work and have fun in staying healthy and fit!
