Understanding how to get rid of ants in the house is key to having a clean kitchen even during the summer months.  Many people don’t understand the physics behind an ant colony, and they certainly don’t understand how to get rid of the ants.  Today I would like to explore the key methods on how to get rid of ants so you can eat in your house in peace!

The easiest way to get rid of ants is to hire a professional exterminator.  I know that seems so basic, but pest control companies specialize in getting rid of ants for people.  Some people do not even begin to think of pest control companies when dealing with ants, but for the lazy people in the world, you might want to consider this option!

While we are talking about pest control exterminators, I should also mention that you may need to hire a professional exterminator in some cases.  If you have been dealing with ants for several weeks and you are still dealing with ants, you may want to consider bringing out the big guns!  These guys know what they are doing, and if your time is more important than your money, this is an option to explore.

If you are dealing with sweet ants or pavement ants, you can use baits to kill the colony.  The idea with this method is for the ants to take the bait back to the colony and spread it all over the colony.  You do not want the ants to know what they are eating, and they will take it back to the colony and the queen ant and die!  You want to use a sweet based bait such as borax.  The bait is usually going to be a syrup and you can buy various baits at Home Depot and Lowes.  You can use Torro for many of your ant baits.  After about a week, you shouldn’t see very many ants at all.
