  • Step 1: Remove the clothes from the washer or your mold infested closet. They are the sources so start cleaning molds on them first. Simply, this is just an approach of getting into the root of the problem. This saves your other unaffected clothing from possibly catching the smell trouble that mold growth can bring.

  • Step2: Start working on the clothes. Let your musty odored clothing dry in the sun. The heat of the sun will help kill the molds in the fabric.

  • Step3: After drying your clothes, wash using laundry detergents specifically made to remove mold stains and smell such as moldergent. You may also use your regular laundry soap but have to add the use of bleach. As an alternative, you may also use baking soda or vinegar in your washing.

  • Step 4: Dry the clothes in your dryer or under the sun. The heat will aid in removing the remaining musty odor, if there is. You may also use fabric conditioners to give your clothes a better smell.

In conclusion, molds can not only leave stains on clothes but also a musty odor. Sure, getting rid of that smell will require another added work. However, removing mold smells on clothes is a worthy effort. With the benefits that you can get from it, it is definitely not a waste.
