Was it the Devil or God?

Spiritual Freedom - The Ability to See Clearly and Execute Gods Will For You.

"But the Lord sent out a great wind on the sea, and there was a mighty tempest on the sea, so that the ship was about to be broken up" Jonah 1,4.

It was pointed out last night that when people generally study the Jonah study they cover on the spiritual principles of Rebellion and Obedience to God from the perspective of Jonah's role. Rarely do they talk about the impact the experience had on the men or the two nations that ship was traveling from.

Because of the resistance of the God's chosen Two Nations had lost their wealth. Men who had families nearly lost their lives. "Then the mariners were afraid; and every man cried out to his god, and threw the cargo that was in the ship into the sea, to lighten the load..." Jonah 1,5 That cargo represented their wealth and their client's wealth.

You know often we face trying situation, involving family member, friends or associates. We often say that "The Devil is a Lier" to indicate that the tribulation is being brought about the Devil. Sometimes the Storm is the work God, because his people are in rebellion and it may have nothing to do with you at all.

On of the most important lessons a person can learn about Spiritual Freedom is that you need to know what is binding you and what isn't. By making that distinction you see clearly when you need to throw people into the sea. "So they picked up Jonah and threw him into the sea, and the sea ceased its raging." Jonah 1,16

Now many of us find it hard to seperate ourselves from those who are bring storms into our lives even when they tell us to cast them off. "And he said to them, "Pick me up and throw me into the sea; then the sea will become calm for you. For I know that this great tempest is because of me." Jonah 1, 12

But we just can't let go. We do like the men in the boat. "Nevertheless the men rowed hard to return to land, but they could not, for the sea continued to grow more tempestous against them." Jonah 1, 13

But because they refused to let go they had positioned themselves against the will of God and they suffered. And we do the same thing. But once they let go of the source of the storm calm returned to their lives.

This is why it's important to let people know. "This is not my Storm". And cut loose those who seek to bring the chaos.
