A Day in the Life Of an Internet Network Marketer: How to Successfully Focus Your Energy
67Focus Your Energy on the Internet Network Marketing World
Focus on the Right Internet Network Marketing Activities
A day for an Internet Network Marketer is a funny thing. It can start off very well or quickly turn very bad! It's important to get your attitude in line from the moment you wake up. Your attitude will set the tone for the day. I do that with freshly ground, organic coffee. You may choose differently, but this is the defining moment for my day. I don't like to be rushed in the morning and I feel it is important to have time to gather your thoughts in order to be productive for the day. Internet Network Marketing results depend on your focus and organizational skills.
I think every day should start out with a little social interaction like Attraction Marketing, but first things first, depending on your level of discipline. I know that if I don't exercise first thing in the morning, I will never get to it later. So, I get that out of the way so I can focus the rest of my energy on Internet Network Marketing business activities.
Now, with the right focus, body and mind, I'll mentally plan my day along with the calendar, recent emails, and to-do lists. You may have already figured out that you will not learn anything here from me about planning, just focus. But, I will try to plan my day around 3 main revenue-producing Internet Marketing activities:
1. Attraction Marketing, or attracting prospects to me
2. Growing My List, or getting people to my lead capture pages
3. Branding Myself, or building an image for myself on the Internet
By planning my day around these 3 main activities, I can remain focused on what I want to accomplish in Internet Network Marketing. But this can be a little tricky, for me at least. Since I am a work-at-home mom, I have to accomplish other tasks during the day, plus my work. There's always loads of laundry, literally! There are errands to run; school events to attend; network marketing luncheons; and always some emergency that has to be taken care of before tomorrow. Beware of these essential but non-business producing activities that take your focus away! Try to schedule other non-business activities at the end of the day or on the weekends.
#1. Attraction MarketingI try to keep on task by only responding to Social Media emails first, like MySpace, FaceBook, and Digg. Taking the time to be social on the Internet falls into revenue-producing activity #1, Attraction Marketing. This is also the most enjoyable part of my day; confirming new friends, requesting new friends, and socializing with old ones. It's like being at a party all morning; moving from one friend to another and learning so much about everyone and what they do. This is what makes Attraction Marketing so fascinating. It's not like working at all, and yet, it is working...for you...attracting large number of prospects to you and what you have to offer.
Have you ever started reading emails and found yourself on some website looking for "who knows what"? Or, you read an email that reminded you of something you needed to do and you went off on an Internet tangent? Don't let this happen! You will end up in the "Bermuda Triangle" of lost time and money. I'll come back to other non-social emails at the end of the day and take care of them all at once, rather than break my focus and concentration whenever I receive them.
If you want to be successful at Attraction Marketing at Social Media sites, you've got to "date" the right groups and participate. You have to take the time to be social and sincerely be a part of the community that you wish to attract. This can be an important revenue-producing activity...a lot better than cold-calling! But, I worked right thru breakfast and this is not so good for Social Marketing. As you know, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. If you skip out on breakfast and allow your blood sugar to drop, not only are you going to be grouchy, but possibly a little foggy-headed and not very social!
#2 Growing Your List On to activity #2, which is getting prospects to a lead capture page. Spending all that time being social doesn't count for much if you don't have pages in place to get your visitors subscribed to your list. Work on creating new lead capture pages, evaluating the effectiveness of old ones or sending out emails to friends on events, news updates, and special offers in order to get prospects to your lead capture pages. Learning how to do all this and set your marketing ideas in motion, correctly, can require some ongoing Internet Network Marketing training to pull it all together.
#3 Branding Yourself If you've been involving yourself with Social Marketing and being social; putting yourself out there; providing value through good content on different social sites, then you have been building an image for yourself. You are being seen as the expert you are in your field and are attracting prospects to you. Prospects can get to know you and see who you are, a leader in your field, and the service you offer and are attracted to your lead capture page to learn more from you, based on the value you are providing. It is worth your time and effort to spend time on your Internet reputation and image.
Along with building your image, comes building your knowledge. Part of the process of branding yourself as a leader is continuing to learn Internet Network Marketing Skills so that you have the opportunity to share what you've learned with others. In many cases, giving is receiving. Self-serving activities will only get you so far in Attraction Marketing. Serving others will attract prospects to you.
During all this focus and concentration on Internet Network Marketing, take the time to move around to stretch several times throughout the day. Who wants carpal tunnel and "turtle neck" from working on a computer all day? There are lots of exercises that can keep the blood moving while sitting, and I'm not above working in a few push-ups.
If you decide to be involved with an Internet Network Marketing training program that can keep you connected with what works in Attraction Marketing and what does not, you should take time every day to study and learn something that will further your skills and knowledge about Attraction Marketing. The second half of my day is devoted to training. I may go back and re-learn something I need to know more about, or move on to a new topic. Either way, I am advancing myself which falls under #3 Branding Myself and developing the leader within.
The best way to utilize my time and energy at the end of the day is to write a rough draft of what I've learned from daily training and socializing, or work on completing an article that I've already started. If I start fresh content immediately after learning, I will be able to put ideas into content before I forget them and the wheels stop turning.
It feels really good to continually move forward by working in 3 main results-oriented activities everyday. And who says, you can't do laundry while you're working? If you leave it clean in the laundry room, they will eventually come after it! So after a few emails; a little winding down with a glass of wine; my day is complete: social, focused, and one that produces results.

I'm glad to hear that it's not just me that goes off on a tangent!
Great job on your article, and great job on your blog. You come over very credible.
Juggling all the different tasks of the day is a biggie for me. I like remembering to take care of yourself while still having a productive day business-wise.
Thanks Becky!

Becky,
This is a wonderful hub and gave me some great ideas because, like you, I get so distracted and feel overwhelmed some days.
Thank you for your comments. I'm glad someone is benefiting from what I have to say.
You are definately not alone. It can be a great challance with all the distractions every day to keep on track. Great Hub Becky.
Great hub! Thks for sharing!
I'm a huge procrastinator and I think I have A.D.D. It's a difficult combination! I've been working on a plan this week to become more focused. Thanks for the hub!
Thank you for some great insights

Hi,
I totally understand how tough it is to not go off on tangents. It's hard to juggle so many balls in the air, but once you get a handle on the focus..things happen. Well done.
You could not have described it better. Creating content, attracting a targeted audience, adding visitors to my email list and branding myself as an authority.
I usually start with the content in the morning (5 am), and then start building search engine rankings thru social bookmarking sites. From there the whole thing takes off virally with other bloggers writing responses (good and bad, it makes no difference) and comments to my blog post.
By the end of the day we discuss what happened, good and bad, (bad is better) both online at Social Marketing Central and offline with my two neighbors who are both skilled social marketers.
If you wonder why I say bad is better it is because it is the bad things that you learn the most from. My search engine rankings kept slipping downhill and we couldn't figure out why. We learned it was how we were managing our Digg postings and that links to my content was actually detrimental to my rankings.
Chris,
Thank you for leaving valuable information in your comment.

Hi Becky,
I thought that was a wonderful article. You totally grasped and explained the 3 most important activities an online network marketer should be taking every day in order to get successful results.
Continuously creating content and optimizing it so that people can find you on the search engines. Establishing yourself as an expert in the field through this content and through socializing in the Social Media arena, which would attract the right people to your list. Building a relationship with them through e-mail and other communication which creates monetization and a flow of people who call you and e-mail you wanting to talk to you and be a part of what you are doing.
From what you said it does seem that you are very organized person and have created a routine for yourself and even though you have your little distraction as a work at home mum you are aware of them and are trying to prevent them from happing with good planning.
I recently listened to one very respectable online coach who suggested exactly what you are doing -- exercise first in the morning and have a big healthy meal for breakfast to set your day properly.
He also suggested that you work 2 hours of "clean focus" on one project without any interruption and then take a complete break from it, because your body tends to get tired after being so focused on one thing. But after 15-20 minutes or less come back to your tasks again in the same manner and continue with the 2 hour blocks of “clean focus” just on one project at a time.
I got to tell you -- I tried this today with a timer and found myself probably twice as productive as usual and I do feel accomplished for the day. My new goal is to break out of the old habits that I have where there were lots of distraction many times between the important tasks. And create this routine as the new way I go about my day from now on.
And reading your HUb definitely helps me move forward with my plan!

That was a great addition to my article. We should work together from now on to cover all angles.
