How to Get Your Business Book Reviewed by Bloggers
59Ask for what you want
Getting others to review your book can really boost sales. After all, no matter what you say about your book, the reader is suspect. What a totally disinterested person says about your book gives what they say a lot more credibility. What you say is suspect. What someone else says carries a lot of weight.
I assume you have a book that is well written and has something of value to share with the reader.
If that is the case, then it is simply a case of asking. Read the blogs that you believe share the philosophy or lessons you put forth in the book. Then write the owner of the blog and offer to send them a book if they will write a review. Some will welcome the opportunity, others will simply not respond. Do not be discouraged.
You should also go to Amazon.com and look at similar books to the one you have written. Amazon does a great job of grouping books. If you search on the general topic of your book, you will find a wide range of books on that subject. Then look at the people who have written reviews on the book. See if you can spot some people with a very low rank - 20,000 or lower - and see if they have posted their contact information.
People with a "reviewer rank" of 20,000 or lower are 1) avid readers and 2) have a habit of reviewing everything they read. If they have posted their contact information, send them an email and ask them if they would be willing to write a review on your book.
When asking anyone to review your book, give them a brief description about the book and why you think they should devote the time to reading the book.
Within the past month, I have had two authors contact me asking if I would read and post reviews on their books. In both cases I accepted their offer. One was an ebook and one was hard cover. The hard cover book arrived in the mail a few days later, autographed by the author.
The hard cover book was a delightful book. Not only did I write a review on Amazon.com, I also spread the word in many different ways. I know he sent me a free book, but I am sure I have gotten dozens of people to buy his book.
The book is The Top 10 Distinctions Between Millionaires and the Middle Class by Keith Cameron Smith. It is well worth reading.
He created a raving fan by sending me the book to review. It is a great way for an unknown author to jump start their sales.
Of course you must be prepared when you ask for a review. Most people who achieve a high status as a reviewer are very sincere and will not post a good review of a bad book. Good reviewers take their opinions very seriously. They are not going to write a glowing review if they do not believe the book is worthy of it.
To summarize, the best way is to find the people you would like to review your book and then simply email or call them and ask. You will find most people are flattered by being asked and are happy to return the favor.
