How to Get a Cell Phone Without a Contract
58Prepaid and Tracfone Cell Phones
Cell phone plans can be expensive and difficult to get out of once signed and delivered. Major cell phone carriers and providers charge extensive penalties for terminating cell phones that are purchased on a mutually agreed upon cell phone contract.
The Kiplinger Personal Finance publication suggests that you simply swap your cell phone plan for a prepaid cell phone or a Tracfone. A swap service is available online that will help you to locate someone to take over your remaining cell phone terms of conditions of the contract. You could save plenty of money by switching from the binding contract plan to the cell phone prepaid plan. Oryou can make a decision to keep the cell phone plan that you have untils the terms and conditions expire and then opt not to renew. The better choice will be to get a prepaid cell phone or a Tracfone.
When you use the cell phone prepay plan, you pay for a flat rate by the minute, by the day or both. The cell phones that use the prepaid plan is very inexpensive and cheap. The cell phone with the prepay plan does not come with all of the bell and whistles as most cell phones like the iPhones and the smart phones. But, if you are looking to save money, you should not be shopping for all those extras.
These cell phones on the cheap are called Tracfones and the cost starts at only $10.00. That cost is amazingly cheap when compared with $600 smart phones made by Nokia and other major cell phone companies. If you use the AT&T pay as you go unlimited talk plan, the charge to talk on these Tracfones is only 10 cents per minute and $1 for each day the phone is used.
AT&T has prepaid cell phone plans that has a $50.00 monthly cap plan. Imagine having a cap on your monthly cell phone bill. A cap or limit on your cell phone bill means that your bill will never by over $50.00 a month. Other carriers have limits set on the cell phone bill also but the limit more often than not is set at $150.00 a month. The $50 monthly AT&T plan includes unlimited talk, texting and even web access. The plan is called Boost Mobile and comparable plans range anywhere from $100 to $130.00 per month.

I see a lot of people switching to prepaid or pay as you go plans. I think the novelty plus the bad economy has created this shift.
