How to Get an Online or Telecommute Freelance Writing Job
78
If you are looking for a way to make money from home or online by writing you are most likely looking for a freelance telecommuting job. By doing a general search for terms like "freelance" or "freelance jobs" on the search engines, you will come up with tons of links to valuable resources that should help you secure a position.
Just like any real job, finding an online freelance writing job requires skill. If you are searching for a way to work from home by doing freelance writing, you need to compile a resume and some samples of your work for your prospective employer to review. Keep in mind that this is a competitive market and it may take you some time to secure work.
That being said, there are hundreds, if not thousands, of people working from home for different online and offline publications as a freelance writer. There are many resources out there to help you secure a position in this field, but again, you must have quality work and you need to know how to market yourself to compete with the competition.
- Mothering Magazine
See their submission guidelines and article requirements. If your submission is chosen, you could receive $200-$500.
If I thought I was good enough to become a freelance writer for a publication, I would go straight to the source. Many publications are always accepting new publishers or content that they are willing to pay for. So, figure out what you feel comfortable writing about or what areas you have some knowledge in and begin your search that way. Search for magazines or articles by keyword or topic.
For example, if you are a mom and wan to write about "mom things" look up different "mom" magazines or websites and see if they have a careers or opportunity link where you can submit an article. If not, contact them via their contact page and ask if they are hiring or what type of material they are hoping to publish in upcoming magazines or web-pages.
This can be done with any subject - to get started, start brainstorming about your passions or you like to do. Do you like cooking, do you love animals, are you a health nut, do you like to exercise, do you like fashion?
Use your imagination. Keep your horizons broad. And, remember, you have to crawl before you can walk. It may take you some time and you may have to work your way up the ladder, but if you stay dedicated, have the ability to market yourself, and great content or material to back it up, you will succeed in the freelance writing world.

This is a great hub ! .
Bookmarked this. Thanks for some good advice.
Hi! Great info...Thanks! But take a little more time to proofread your work; you've got a number of typos...:) This is important, especially if you list Hubpages on your resume.
Very interesting, I enjoyed it. Godd Luck in all of your endeavors.
Thanks for the tips! I'm definitely going to try this approach!
@Lana - thanks. I do need to proofread, I admit it. I just usually write and go! But, no I don't use this as a resume, just info to hopefully help others.
@ladi60us & Ebower - thanks and glad you enjoyed it.
