How to Get on the First Page of Google with Hubpages
65What it takes to get to the first page of google
When it comes to ranking high in the search engines, many experts have written technical strategies about how to get on the first page of google. There are internet marketers who will tell you that there are secrets to reaching the holy grail of the serps. I have seen websites that specialize in SEO Tactics, Tips and long indept explainations on the subject. Use Web 2.0, key terms that people search for everyday.
I am no SEO Expert
When I started with Hubpages, it was more of a hobby than anything else. I like to write and I figured this would be a good place for me to keep up my writing habits, and I would be able to share my knowledge with a community of like-minded readers. I have had a great experience, sharing information I find on the web and connecting with other hub authors has been a real pleasure. Best way to get organic traffic.
Seeing my articles on the First Page of Google
It was a truly amazing feeling when I checked some of my articles to see that they had made it to the first page of google. To my surprise especially on common subjects such as Relationships, I wrote this Hub about "How to Keep a Relationship going Strong. It seems to be a favorite for the search engines as well.
Here is a Screen Shot of the Hub making number 1of 10 out of 3,150,000 searches.
My Hobbie of interest leads to the top of google
One other article that I wrote because I like photography and taking pictures, was a Hub I wrote about "Finding a Career in the World of Photography". This particular one was a article of passion and I would have not guessed in a million years that it would end up on the first page of google. I had researched some good information about photography careers and how to get started. So again no special strategies or skills, just writing about the things I love.
Here is a screen shot of the Hub making 1 of 10 out of 991,000 searches.

What are some benefits of writing for Hubpages?
See results without votingWhat is my Secret? How did I do it?
Well quite frankly, I did nothing special I just wrote about things I was passionate about. I usually find a topic I like and then start researching the information and writing it. I follow the directions put out by Hubpages, making sure to use the capsules. Add Pictures and put headings above each paragraph. Pretty standard stuff.
What about Keywords and Relevant Tags?
This is an area that I truly did not have any special expert skill in, some of my hubs had too little tags and I struggled to find words that were in the article to use as my tags so I could lengthen the list. I still am working on this, but I have found the new Tag Suggestion feature Hubpage added will be a great contribution to my future articles.
Who knew it would go to the top.
This last hub has an interesting story behind it. I got the idea to write a article about Felony Friendly businesses, from a experience I had at the County building in my area. A clerk was talking to a gentleman about applying for some open job positions, he mentioned to her that because of his past criminal history he was having difficulty finding work. She assured him that she had a list of "Felony Friendly" businesses on her list that he could apply for.
To my surprise I had not heard of that term before, so I decided to write a hub on that particular subject which turns out to be a popular one, if not a niche in itself.
Here is the screen shot of the Felony Friendly article 1 of 10 out of 1,260,000

Thanks, Louiseknittel, I had fun putting it together, since I just learned how to use the screen print button I wanted to try it out.
Great Hub. I was also once told that the more you feature your keywords in your website the higher you will rate in the search engines, which proved true for my private website www.lesrouvetslake.com as if you look for "coarse fishing in Guernsey" this always comes up at number one, mainly due to the amount of time "coarse fishing" and "Guernsey" are mentioned in the site.
I notice you have over 700 fans, do you think it may be because of the volume of these fans that view your articles you end up quickly reaching the top of the search engines?
Your hubs are great by the way.
I trust you like I do with CompuSmart articles, but I am also wondering like Misty if perhaps your having so many fans who view your hubs, pushes you up in the search engines?
Thumbs up!
Hi! Even I find some of my hubs on page one, although I did not write any hubs to attract the algorithms of search engines. Following someone's advise, I wrote with my heart and edited with my head!
When I type in the complete name of the web page, I find quite a lot of my stuff on page one. I mean the name of the article only and not the absolute URL.
I am no SEO expert either, and I do find it difficult to get my other commercial web sites on page one. LOL!
Mistyhorizon, I hear a lot about keywords too, but in these particular hubs they are not keyword rich. I am not sure if all my fans actually view all my hubs.
VioletSun, One thing I have noticed that the higher the hub score is on a particular hub seems to get more traffic, than a low score hub but I don't know if these scores actually affect how a hub is ranked in the search engines.
Quicksand, Thats great, its true that the passion that is behind a article means more than playing the SEO game.
Interesting information. I'm new here and trying to figure everything out. Like you, I am excited simply to have a creative outlet such as this. However, I do have a desire to attract lots of viewers, etc. Articles like this are a help, thanks!
Great, meaty article that really shows how simple SEO can be! Thanks for sharing and to call your writing output prolific would be an understatement; I am sure you are bombarded with questions from newbies like myself but at your leisure I have a few ?'s that I would like to ask you... Thanks for the great content.
Soulfly - welcome and soon you will see there are many helpful resources available, a good place to start is with the hubpage hub, they give great tips on how to write articles, even on how to get more traffic, by using bookmarking sites.
Realestateman - Most of my writing comes out of doing a lot of reading and researching information that I find, sometimes I just write about things I think others would like to know about.
Research analyst:
I noticed you put the entire phrase of your hubs when searching in google. That almostĀ guarantees a 1st position. Have you tried it only with 2 or 3 keywords? Because normally people on google are too lazy to write big sentences.
Me for instance I get google's first position for this hub http://hubpages.com/hub/Anime-online---Watch-Seria
when I type LAIN ONLINE. That's first place in over 10 million results! (because fewer words were used).
So, try it as well! Maybe you have even better surprises!
It is very much true that when you have good content and a passion to write you can climb the ladders to reach the top with google or any other search engines.A Good hub.Muraleedharan.
Thanks, Animae - I will try it, thanks for sharing.
Muraleedharan, I agree, it makes a real difference when you love what you do.
Thanks for sharing Research Analyst, I will have to come back and read it again. Thanks for the tips. By the way, like you, I started writing articles for Hubpages because I, too, wanted to keep up my writing skills and I enjoy doing what I do.
hubby7
Hubby7 - I admire your will to do what you enjoy. Keep up the good work.
Hi RA, congrats. A lot of your hubs are in the first page of Google.
btw, I think that if your infos are useful, you really will get there. :)
Thanks for the great info - it's nice to know we can all have a chance to rank high on google - not just the "experts"
What anime nanet says is right, when you type in the complete address of your web page or the abslute URL of your page (or my page) first spot is guaranteed since there is only one web page in the entire WWW with that address. Since no two pages can exist with the identical address.
However, the concept of "bum marketing" created by a guy called Travis, states that when someone searches using a phrase, and if the key words on your web page matches a certain percentage of words in that phrase, you stand a chance of being spotted.
The more such searches, the higher your potential to better rankings. I am experimenting with this concept without much success!
this are really long tail words but it should also work to rank well with shorter terms. never the less - great article
Good advice. How do you get a screen shot of Google? You have given lots of advice. Thanks.
Beatsme, your right having useful information is necessary, and it works everytime.
Quicksand - your right, I have over 140 articles so more than just the three I showcased have made it to the first page of google, I tested the short phrase and long tail phrase suggestions on some of my other articles and they were on the first page of google as well.
xiuk - yes your right, writing good content seems to be the winning formula.
Einron - getting a screen shot is pretty simple, use the print screen button on your keyboard, then go to "paint" on your computer, hit edit paste and then save with file name to pictures, to get it into hubpages just use the photo capsule, hit browse insert jpg and upload.
Great hub and sound advice, Research Analyst
I also write about what I like and try to make the hub interesting. What happens next is up to the Google Gods :) Gods, I do not worship, it's all about writing as far as I'm concerned.
I think I'm doing what You have told. So, have I found a place on google? I don't know how to chech it out!
wow,you are a wealth of information; thanks!
Very interesting and thought provoking hub, Research Analyst. It caught my eye because it is a subject that I have been getting more deeply involved with lately. I have a product that I am trying to sell through the Internet. I am not the only one trying to do this. I find with a search that others are pulling this product up to the first page of Google. Of course I want to do the same. I have been studying "Stomping the Search Engines" which has a lot of educational material on how to get to first page, and subsequently getting $100s of thousands of dollars in orders each month (hope springs eternal). What you wrote is consistent with the information given. Content is important. Also important is how many links to your website, and the "quality" of the links. If someone links to you, and they have a lot of links to them, this raises you up fast. Also, how many time your website is addressed. I have hopes of making my business successful and so I won't say anymore. You are on the right track.
Bob Davis (I am working on a new picture).
Congrats!
It is a great feeling, especially when you are not really focusing on keywords. keep up the great work...I guess it's not really work if you enjoy what you are doing. Congrats once again
Marc
Anata65 - thats great. I am glad you found the hub encouraging.
Prasadjain - its quite simple really, just go to the google search box and type on phrases related to your article, see what comes up.
StacieL - you are just too kind. Smile
Bob Davis - its understandable, when one is starting a business, getting the most exposure is needed to make money and get noticed. Google has its own formula for ranking content, which is not clearly defined. But one thing is for sure "Good Content" rules and if you write good stuff others will link to it.
Marc - thanks for the support. smile'
HI RESEARCH ANALYST,
YOU HAVE A GREAT KNOWLEDGE OF HP . GR8 HUB !!!
Have you searched anything without mentioning your entire hub title? i.e. with some key words?
Well of course you can get to number one on google serps when you have a 7 word long tail... but who is going to search for the exact phrase "finding a career in the world of photography" or "how to keep a relationship going strong"?
no one... that is who. If you want to impress us show us how much traffic comes from actual google searches.
Congrats on your accomplishment! It must be a great feeling to see your hubs on the first page of Google.
I use what you tell me from this blog to create a blog and it is on 8th of first of Google result page among 1,110,000 result.
You are great.
My blog named "Awaken Your Giant Writer"
Search it on Google to prove this.
rahu08 thanks for sharing, this is good news indeed
