It is essential for you to have basic knowledge and perhaps better understanding on how your cell phone plans work for you. If you don’t, then you are most likely not going to have all the benefits and advantages you could possibly gained from the mobile phone service providers. Please understand that the mobile phone carriers only motivation is to fork out as much money as possible from you, I mean from us. So it is best to know exactly how to get the most out from your mobile phone plans.
What am I going to describe here is actually a research I have managed to gain from all over the web. Most of them are confessions and reviews given by insiders; people that have worked for the "mobile phone" providers as well as those that still work with them. I feel obliged to compile all of my knowledge on this matter and therefore I hope that this dedicated work will somehow help you to decide and eventually learn to successfully negotiate and get the most out of your mobile phone plans. I believe that all these information is valuable enough whether you use a contract-based mobile plan or even the prepaid wireless cell phone plans.
Now let’s go and check out some techniques that can be applied to get the most out from your Verizon mobile phone plan.
Most of the time the Verizon sales representative will take the initiative to promote Verizon’s two-year contract. Just for your information, the benefits of subscribing to this contract would save you a $50 savings on your mobile phone. Yes, only $50 savings for the whole two years period. Do you think that is worth it to take this two year mobile phone contract? I don’t think so. If you take the one year contract, you can forget about that $50 savings and you will then enjoy the benefits of upgrading to a new mobile phone every ten months. Isn’t that a better deal?
As a Verizon sales representative, you are entitled to a lot of commissions when you managed to get new lines. The more the sales are, the more you will get. Well, that sounds normal to you, right? Well, please do take advantage on this fact then. Negotiate and bargain as hard as you can when you speak to any one of them. Trust me, they will do anything to ensure that they can make you register for a new line.
Do you know that Verizon makes money out off the service they provided, not from the mobile phones? So let say that if you walked in into the store and asked to have a $39 mobile plan and also a free Treo 700 mobile phone. They won’t let you though, but the possibilities are you can get just any one of non-PDA mobile phones in the store. You can get a very good deal out of this technique. At the same time, just tell the sales representative that you are interested to buy the accessories as well as the text package and they will be more than happy to assist you, as these two things are the biggest income for them. Make sure you negotiate again at this point to get the best deal as they are most likely generous enough to you. What you should next is just return the accessories the next day and at the same time, call up the customer care center to cancel your text package.
Now what if you already have a Verizon mobile phone contract? If you have a plan that is $59.99 or higher, you have the right to utilize one special discount to get a new mobile phone as well as a new contract. However this is only possible after twelve months. Another way to get a new mobile phone at a discounted rate at least for 25% is to mention the lost or stolen program, though you are still under contract. No one should question further whenever you mentioned that you have lost your mobile phone.
Forget about the mobile phone insurance. It is completely a swindle. Don’t you feel that the cost is just too ridiculous and furthermore, it has a $50 deductible? Well if you agree with me, then it is best to politely reject this offer.
All right, what if you are interested to get a Treo mobile palm phone? If you are, then it is best to sign up for the "Verizon Unlimited Data Plan" that comes with Treo mobile phone. Tell this to the sales representative and he or she will definitely tell you that there is an extra $100 off. Hooray! You will save $100 and you can choose to keep this plan or you can also cancel it the next day if you don’t feel like it. Just call the customer care and they will be able to assist you. This technique is possible due to the fact that high end data package is counted as a new activation in a roundabout way for the sales representative and therefore none of the data packages are contractual.
Well I think you should already know by now that if you are still in contract and you prefer to upgrade your plan over the phone you won’t be entertained as much as when you are still a prospect. Why? This is due to the fact that the sales representative won’t get much commission from upgrading your contract-based mobile plan.
Another technique I’m about to tell you guys is theoretically possible to perform but I swear that I haven’t tried it yet LOL. This technique however is best used by those who have "New Every 2" plan and are out of contract. Before you go to the Verizon store, call up the Verizon customer care and asked for a loyalty credit. Tell them to put you back into contract but kindly tell them to get a loyalty credit up to $60 off your next monthly bill. Once you are done, go to the store and use your New Every 2 plan. The magic here is since both credits can’t be associated, this is perhaps the only way you can get both of them. The representative can figure out that you have got a credit but the system is not that informative to figure out what you are trying to do. But please do check the contract rules for Verizon Wireless in your state as it might differ from state to state and the most important thing is you have to go to the store in time to cancel the new contract in case you can’t use the New Every 2 plan.
That’s enough about Verizon. Let’s take a look into getting the most out of your T-Mobile phone plan.
Let’s go back to basic; reading the terms and conditions as well as the policy. Whenever you purchase a moble phone plan from T-Mobile, say for $100, you are entitled to a price match guarantee policy. This policy means T-Mobile should always honor any price that has been printed, meaning advertisement, as long as the terms and conditions are the same as T-Mobile’s which means that if you have gotten yourself a piece of information that says that the plan has $20 off, you will get the lower price. This is a policy that is not advertised widely and there is also a chance that you can get some amount being credited to your account if somehow the price of the plan or the mobile phone goes down within 30 days from the day you purchased it.
Wow, that is just so cool, don’t you think so?
There’s a conflict though with another technique shared by one of T-Mobile sales representative. The sales representative claimed that T-Mobile allows the sales representatives to give away accessories for free to new sign ups. He claimed that you can ask for free mobile phone accessories and the representative should be able to give it away without checking with his or her manager. However, another sales representative for T-Mobile has disputed about this technique where he said that that technique might be possible in certain market or area. Most of the time, this is not true. But he claimed that what is true is most of the time the activation fees are waived.
As I mentioned earlier about getting rid of the mobile phone insurance, same thing applies with getting a mobile phone from T-Mobile. Try to avoid the insurance, well, I mean avoid it at all. Use features to get more free stuff since any data feature subscribed would mean more commission for the sales representative. The more money you give to him, the more motivated he will become. LOL. So make sure you this fact to your advantage and you can ask the sales representative to provide you more accessories whenever you purchase unlimited messaging or t-zones data feature.
Again, another fact about getting either a one-year contract or two-year mobile phone contract which is pretty much the same with Verizon I have mentioned earlier. Don’t choose the two-year contract. Take the one year mobile phone contract though you have to pay extra $50. With "T-Mobile", you can upgrade your mobile phone again after 11 months.
Every T-Mobile sales representative has a sales target that he or she needs to achieve every month. You can use this fact to your advantage. Try to go and shop at the end of the month, possibly the last five days of the month, and most likely you can get a better deal than when you shop earlier in the month. This is because the sales representative tends to be more generous in terms of providing you better deal and to ensure that they can strike the deal, they have to try their level best to give anything that you want. In other words, they will be more lenient during the end of the month just to ensure that they can meet the sales target.
This fact can also be used to your advantage even when you shop for mobile phone earlier in the month. Once you have been approved for service but you are not given the best deal that is to your preferences, you can just leave your phone number to the sales representative that attended you and tell him or her to call you whenever he or she can give you a good deal. Most likely the sales representative will call you few days before the month ends to close the deal by giving you a better deal according to what you want.
This next technique is not something that I recommend you to do, but it might work though. Within 14 days of purchasing your T-Mobile plan, you can get free stuffs by calling the store you went previously. Ask to speak to the sales representative that attended you on that particular day and once you get him or her on the line, tell him that you would like to know the procedure to cancel the plan. The sales representative will most likely remember you since he or she was the one who attended to your needs before and he or she will get a chargeback if you cancel your plan.
He or she then will most likely ask you the reason for changing your mind, so just tell him or her that you have been offered a better deal for a similar type of mobile phone for the same price but the package comes with a couple free accessories and waived activation. The most important thing that you need to tell him or her is that the offer came from a different mobile phone service provider. Since he or she had worked so hard to get you to sign up for the new line, he or she is more likely try to offer you free accessories to ensure that you stick with the plan.
Now that sounds a little bit unethical right? Well, it depends on what you think and how important it is to you to save some of your money.
It’s going to be an epic if I write some more about getting the most out of your mobile phone. I’ll try to get hold some of my time to write other information that I have in my possession in the future. However, I would like to remind all of you again that what I have depicted here are just reviews given by insiders and some other people who have tried almost all of these methods to get the most out of your mobile plans. So it does not mean that it will work for you if you want to try them out but try them at your own risk.
Until next time guys. Cheers.
