Anything you do, at some point, affects the environment whether it is at your home or any other place. Simple processes like rust removal, cleaning or driving can either be of help or cause damage to the planet. This fact shares a huge part on making the going green idea become so openly widespread.

Caring for the environment is an unquestioned idea that had been floating for a long time now. The problem however, is the fact that not everyone who acknowledges the concept is doing what they know they should be doing. Some of them merely contented themselves agreeing on the idea, leaving everything else to others. However, if all will do and think the same, what then will happen to this planet? Surely, there will be no difference. Or maybe there will be some differences but definitely, it will be for the worse.

One reason that discourages others from carrying out going green steps, apart from the thought it requires a lot of work, is the expenses. Most people don't mind taking an extra step or exerting an effort just to be eco-friendlier as long as it does not involve spending more, especially with today's uncertainty on the world economy. But of course, that is with the exception of those who can afford.

If you are one of those who had been restricted by money to go green, there are things that can be done to solve your problem. True, there are going green moves that involves large spending for tools and equipments but there are also moves that require just a little expenses. Some green steps are even of no financial requirement.

Whether you are a home buddy or an entrepreneur, there is always something that you can do to help save the planet with less and possibly even zero financial expense. The following are the things that you can try to implement:

Steps for Businesses:

  • Measure your company's waste and know how much of it negatively affects the planet. Determine the areas where the waste comes from and develop green programs prioritizing the areas according to how big their waste contribution is.

  • Make your employees know how much waste is made in the workplace. Make it visible to them for a bigger impact that can have them reconsider their waste-producing habits.

  • Create programs that can stimulate change in the workplace. Offering rewards and incentives to employees practicing green steps are some of the techniques that you can try.

  • Get everyone involved in your green change and that includes your customers. The programs may be different but make sure that they are interesting enough to capture the attention and interest of both employees and customers.

Steps that can be performed at home:

  • If you have a garden or enough backyard space, try growing your own vegetables with the help or organic fertilizers. This will provide fresher food and air. If you don't have enough space, you can try planting vegetables on pots.

  • When cleaning and maintaing your house, use products that are natural such as organic rust removal products and cleaners. Basic home ingredients as baking soda, vinegar, lemon juice and salt can also be an effective and safe alternatives to all the conventional cleaning prducts that you use.

  • Reuse and Recycle to reduce your waste. Bottles, cans and plastic bags can be cleaned and kept for possible future use or can be transformed into useful items instead of just simply discarding them.

  • If you have a bicycle, use them instead of cars in travelling short distances. Walking is also a good option as it is good for your health apart from being a help to the environment.

Going green need not be expensive. With the given tips, you can be of help to the environment without having to spend too much for it.
