As a matter of fact, there are going green means that can be incorporated to almost any task that you can name and that includes taking care of your clothing. The only problem is that not everybody got the enthusiasm and interest to go green.

However, to go green is a very important matter. Taking it lightly can already result to various environmental consequences. How much more if it is totally ignored?

As going green is something that can affect everything and everybody on this planet, it also must be a subject of everything and everbody's concern. And beacuse it is us, humans, who got the knowledge and the power to keep the environment safe, the responsibility is on our shoulders. And that exempts no one.

For individuals who seek reasons not to go green, helping the environment is too expensive.

However, by all means, money is not a hindrance to help protect the earth. Even without money to spend, you can aide in preserving this planet. There might be some that requires spending but they sure are not that much and their return makes it all worth it. One perfect example is properly caring for your clothing. This helps in keeping your waste in a low level and with it you can be sure that in your own little way, you are helping the environment.

Here are few other techniques of making your clothing a part of your going green means:

  • Properly wash and dry your clothes. This includes numerous substeps to take.

  • Use orgranic-made detergents. There are now laundry soaps with natural ingredients so prefer them over those that are chemically produced.

  • Separate white clothes from the dark and colored ones. This keeps the clothes' color bright.

  • Limit your use of dryer. Apart from consuming a lot of energy, it could also ruin your clothes' fabrics.

  • You can add basic home ingredients like table salt, baking soda and vinegar to your detergent to clean, deodorize and brighthen the color of your clothes.

  • Before putting your clothes in a washer or dryer, turn them inside out to keep the outside from being worn out.

  • Use cold water in washing to save energy.

  • Use organic solutions to remove stains. For a rust stain for example, get rid of it with the use of natural rus removers.

  • Swap clothes with your friends. Exchanging your discarded clothes with that of your friends keeps a handful of them from being a waste. This also works if you are looking for something fashionable.

  • If you are to buy new clothes, go organic. Though you can always reuse and recylcle your clothes, it is but inevitable to buy new ones. When you do so, pick those clothing that are made of eco-friendly fabrics.
