When developing your presence on Hubpages.com you must create a profile that is genuine to your passion. If you are multi-talented and a dynamic personality then a name and bio that portrays your inner creativity Is for you. If you are like many writers and simply want to get your name known in this community use your real name and be authentic and do not be afraid to be long winded in your bio.
If you want to simply aggregate traffic from Hubpages for other services you will find it very difficult to do so as the Hubpage community is very active and can smell a fake profile from miles around. If this is still your incentive then I urge you to create valuable content that supports your product or service with minimal outbound links and work on creating value rather than back-links. This approach will be tolerated but you will have a hard time finding many friends or fans of your work.
As you Begin creating your Hubs be sure to include as many different and unique capsules as possible and remember that you can use the arrows to position them within your text module to make your articles pop. Include Interactive polls to engage your readers and challenge them to leave feed back and to engage them in your article as much as possible.
As in every article creation website Content is King and you must remember that when you are finished to re-read and correct any spelling errors and possible miss communications withing your article so you do not confuse your reader.
Make your articles fun and do not be afraid to put short stories from your experiences to help the reader learn more about your background and your life. This in particular will be helpful when entering the community and becoming known for your work as the active members will look forward to your next hub for that little window into your life and learning just that much more about you.
Engage the forums and be helpful. When you enter the forums be sure to say hi and be personable to those you meet. Do not be confrontational unless you truly do have the answer and can prove it beyond a shadow of a doubt that you are right. This is a mistake many people have made on the forums and it leaves a bad taste in the veterans mouths and make it hard to become quick friends with the leaders and influential people within the community.
Keep links out of the forums unless specifically asked to post them or be sure you explain in depth why you have posted an outbound link.
What Not to Post EVER
- Affiliate links
- Spam
- Copied Content to further a cause
- Forum topics intended to lead others into frustrating debates
- Questions you know the answer to
- Forum topics in the wrong sub group (EX:Religious topics in the Sandpit)
What to Post
- Sincere questions
- Responses you know the answer to
- Opinions when asked (be genuine)
- Word Games
- Stories and Tales
- Asking for help when needed (Prayer or peer review)
Review others hubs when you are creating yours. Look at the most successful Hub Masters and follow in their ink trails. Comment on others Hubs with sincerity and do not be afraid to leave a paragraph or more when adding to the subject they have written on.
The Golden Rule of Hubpages as it is in working within any Online or Off-line community is always the same. Treat others as you yourself would like to be treated.
If your creating content that is poorly written and you have not invested time into your work then others will not respond with much of their time in turn and your hub score will reflect your work accurately with low ratings and disapproval. But when you write from your heart with compassion and truly give your knowledge completely on the subject to benefit others they will in turn reach out and help you gain traction and notority within the community and rank your hub well and leave great feedback and encouragement through comments and joining your fan base.
They may even begin to hunger for more of your work and you may also hunger for theirs.
Sincerely,
Brian James Fanslau of YouBrandInc
