If you are telecommuting and working from home, then the work week can be made productive quite easily. You are your own boss when you work from home and can have your private office run to your specifications. If you have a work at home job then you have a boss but you do not have to be concerned about commuting or dealing with traffic. Dealing with traffic everyday can cause even the calmest of persons to start their day not as they would want to.
If you are working a regular 9 to 5 job, then you have a few obstacles that you must manage before you can have a work week of productivity. Again, there are many variables that must be considered like the kind of boss that you have and whether or not the chemistry is there for you both to perform your job professionally. If you have had problems with your boss, then it is best to try to find another job as soon as possible that will suit you better. The fact that the student was able to obtain this goal also can be attributed to responsible parents who realize the importance of education. The high schooler probably will not have a problem getting to work everyday because of the experience of not missing a single day out of school. The parents had rooted in him a good ethic of getting to school that can also become a good work ethic.
Most people do not hold such a sterling attendance record and may find it difficult to get to work everyday and on time. You must prepare the night before or the week before for the upcoming week. Prepare everything that you need to get to work on time. You must make sure that you have a wardrobe to cover the week and that your transportation is reliable. If you are carpooling, you have to make sure that the person who you are carpooling with is responsible and reliable.
You need to treat your job as a place where you have to be and if an element of your getting to work becomes a problem, then it needs to be fixed right away. You may have given notes of excuses in high school for absences and tardiness but when you are working the odds are much higher. You are working for people who need you to be there to either help them run their business or to help the business to save money.
Labor is the most expensive part of running a business. Labor is expensive because workers are needed to get the jobs done. If you are not at work at the prescribed time, then the business may suffer for nonproductivity. Think of yourself as part of a team and that whatever your job is, however minimal, is important to running the business. If you take the approach that you are an important part of what goes on in the business, you will do better getting to work on time and getting to work everyday.
Once you get to work, keep the teamwork attitude working for you and work beyond what is expected. When you work beyond what is expected of you, your evaluations should reflect your extra work. You are motivated to continue to improve. Use extraordinary efforts to show work that reflect your good workmanship in a team and be proud of the work you do. Pride in ownership as in a home can also help when it comes to having a job and doing the best you can do. When you do the best you can do and is at work everyday and on time everyday, what will the boss say to you except as they say in the military: "Job Well Done."
