How to hit a golf ball straight is one of the most challenging apects for amateur golfers to accomplish. Did you happen to watch The Players Championship this past week, the winner Henrik Stenson just happened to be on of the leaders in fairways hit. It's a no brainer, hitting fairways means lower scores. It's why you need to learn how to hit the golf ball straight.

The golf swing is hardly a kinetic movement in which everyone masters. Even the great ones like Tiger Woods have swing doctors they turn too when things are not going well. But, it does not mean you shouldn't strive to hit it straight as an arrow.

1. Keeping it square - You must align yourself properly with the intended target and the clubhead must strike the ball with a square face. I know you already know this, but do you understand how to repeatedly make solid and square contact? Most swing faults are a direct result of your set up or stance. Keeping everything square to target is the first step in hitting the golf ball straight. Your knees and shoulders need to stay in alignment with the target line. I know this sounds easy, but I had a major problem with setting my knees up on target, but I left my shoulder open, you guessed it. I either blocked alot of my shots or hit screaming slices into the pines.
2. Swing path must be on the proper line. Taking the club back through the back shoulder blade is exactly how to get the club on the proper plane. Watch any PGA pro and you will see th shaft of the club dissect the back shoulder. It's how ot hit golf ball straight. The downswing must come back on the same proper path. Watch videos from behind of any touring professional and you will see exactly what I am talking about.

These two tips should get you on your way. I now routinely shoot in the 70's, I was not ashamed to get a little help.
