Our Pets HA-10082 ecoPure Dog Appetite Enhancer - 4 oz Spray Bottle
An appetite enhancer with natural aromas for the discriminating nose. Whereas the world is one of images for humans, it is one of smells for cats and dogs. The dog's sense of smell is about 20,000 times greater than the human's and also much more discriminating. Our pets utilize their sense of smell for eating, hunting, sensing danger, etc. But sometimes pets needs our help. Some are born picky, or they can lose their sense of smell as they age, or if they are feeling ill or unwell. Sometimes their food loses its aroma from sitting around and getting stale. ecoPure Naturals Appetite Enhancer has a natural Bacon and Cheddar aroma that penetrates the dry food and, unlike messy high calorie gravies, only adds about .1 calories per spray.

Steps to Help Your Dog Gain Weight
- A good way to start is to keep track of your dog's weight. This can be easily accomplished by keeping a weekly log of your dog's weight to efficiently track your dog's progress. It is helpful to be precise and date each input and add the ounces.
- Next, a good high quality and complete dog food (often pricey) must be found. Ideally, the vet should recommend one after ruling out any health conditions. It is important the the dog food has been approved by AAFCO as nutritionally balanced and complete. A seal should be seen some where on the dog food.
- Supplements may often be recommended by your vet. Vitamins and minerals may work out well, but always consult with a veterinarian first as over supplementing may cause more damage than good.
- If the dog has no appetite, the vet may prescribe special prescription dog foods that may help entice the dog to eat and provide extra caloric content until the dog eats more and starts feeling more energized. An example is prescription diet A/D produced by Hills.
- Treats come very handy when dogs need to increase weight. Simply incorporate them into yuor training sessions. An example? Sit, reward, roll over, reward, come here, reward and so on. Your dog will excel in obedience training as never before. Of course, dont' over do it!
- Exercise is still recommended as it keep your dog strong and helps maintain muscle mass. Again, do not over do it.
- It is important to store food properly ensuring it does not come in contact with air, moisture and excessive heat. Spoiled food may not retain nutrients as necessary and food not stored well may lose palatability, making the hungriest dog t turn finicky.
A seen, your dog may be on its way to become more plump. It really all comes down to ruling out medical conditions, providing high quality food, healthy treats and veterinarian approved supplents and appetite stimulants.

good information. You see overweight dogs all too often these days. People simply want to be good to their beloved pets, but in turn ends up unintentionally hurting them.
Melshomecorner,
Hmm...I think exercise and controlled rations are the best way to lose weight. Maybe invest in a thread mill if for any reason you are unable to provide lots of exercise? I find it odd when people own two dogs and one is skinny and the other one is more on the obese side, especially when they exercise the same and are fed about the same (unless one sneaks and eats the other dog's food).
If she is still getting heavier regardless of exercise and less food I would have her checked out for hypothyroidism. Dachshunds appear prone to this condition as well.

Best wishes!
