How to Install a Hot-Water Dispenser: DIY Installation of Hot-Water Dispenser
66To install a hot-water dispenser you need to have some hands
on experience on home plumbing. The job may
not be so easy if you have no prior experience at all, even though it is always
good to learn.
To install a hot-water dispenser, there must be a hole on the sink top that can
receive the spout. If there is now such hole, you will have to make it. If your
sink has a sprayer, you may remove it and use the hole for hot-water dispenser
installation. Or, if you have a separate spout for purified water, you can
replace it with a hot-and-cold model. If you don’t want to replace or remove
any of the existing installations, you can check if the sink has an extra hole
that hasn't yet been punched. You can use a plumbing drilling machine to drill
a hole in stainless steel or porcelain. Just make sure you do not crack the
porcelain.
This is why most hot-water dispensers are installed during kitchen remodeling in new sinks that have the proper number of holes required.
Installing Hot-Water Dispenser
Most hot-water dispenser units sold by wholesale plumbing houses are generally installed by plumbers. Others come with complete instructions for do-it-yourself installation.
During installation, a "saddle valve" is clamped
onto the water pipe, and then the unit is connected to this valve using a ¼-inch
copper tubing with the help of compression fittings.
