Homebrew for the Wii is a fully legal channel like any other Wii channel. It makes you able to launch homebrew applications from a SD card in your Wii. These applications can be used to watch movies, play music, play burned and downloaded Wii games (although it is only legal to do this for back-up purposes). You can even play games from other regions or other consoles like NES, SNES, SEGA and a lot of others. And my favorite of them all: You are able to play Super Mario Wars - a great free multiplayer battle game with super mario 3 theme! Just like Super Smash Brothers - you just kill your opponent by jumping on them! You can choose from a ton of levels and modes including capture the flag and team deathmatch!

If you want to install Homebrew Channel for the Wii you must preform a minor hack, but it is perfectly legal and will not ruin the warranty of your Wii in any way. I have included a small guide at the bottom of this article if you want to give it a shot. All you need is a SD card and some software you install on your Wii. It will work on any Wii version - but if you are using system menu 4.0 you will have to use the bannerbomb hack instead of the twilight hack (more info about this in the link at the bottom of this article).

Installing the Homebrew channel will also make you able to play and store games directly from your Wii to a hard disk by connecting it to one of the Wii's USB ports. No more broken DVDs ever again!
