What is Hypnosis?

To learn self hypnosis is really easy and can be done in a few minutes. Hypnosis is something we all do everyday but we probably don’t realize we are doing it. If you calmly asked 10 people what hypnosis was, you’d probably get 10 different answers. So let’s clear up the definition of hypnosis;

Relaxation + Imagination + Self-talk = Hypnosis

To learn self hypnosis means taking control of the relaxation process thereby allowing you to focus strictly on your internal thinking with out becoming distracted by outside influences. You can invoke the imagination engaging the right hemisphere of the brain and create the environment in which your change work will take place. Using self-talk you define the context of the successful change work. Repeating the 3 step process of relaxation + imagination + self talk you invoke the catalyst in hypnosis to realize change.

Sample Self-Hypnosis Script

To learn self hypnosis is best done by doing it. Try this relaxation script and you will see for yourself.

Close your eyes, sit back slowly and take a deep breath, let it out slowly, through your mouth. As you exhale imagine all the tension in your body is like black oil and is draining away into the ground, as you exhale, the tension is draining away. Inhale slowly and deeply through you nose, feel the cool relaxed and peaceful breath entering your nose and moving throughout your body, smooth, cool and relaxing breath. Calming and caressing each part of your body. Slowly and gently exhale.

Begin again at the beginning and repeat this script at least 3 times, more if you need to relax more. With each repetition you are certain to remain relaxed, calm and peaceful.

What is Negative Hypnosis?

To learn self hypnosis means neutralizing the unproductive suggestions communicated to us by others. People drop negative suggestions into our minds either purposefully or unintentionally at one time or another. In fact most people do it to themselves as well. A suggestion that is self-defeating, self-abusing or self-effacing and is repeated over and over in the mind; is negative self-hypnosis. The negative results produced will be directly related to the hypnosis process of imagination, self-talk and repetition. Negative self-hypnosis is just as powerful as positive self-hypnosis.

What is Positive Hypnosis?

To learn self hypnosis is to use the 3 step process to overcome a phobia, gain self-confidence, improve concentration or change a habit. These outcomes are positive and so you are engaging in positive self-hypnosis. Positive self-hypnosis results in positive change work and this produces positive outcomes for you. Positive self hypnosis will make you feel uplifted, rejuvenated and refreshed. You feel like you can once again take on the world and win at it too!
