How to Add Decades of Healthy Active Years to Your Life
69How Long Do You Want to Live
I am going to share with you some secrets of long life given to me by old folks all over the world. I have traveled throughout Europe, North America and much of Asia. I have met many healthy but very old people. I have taken notes and have asked as many of them as I could, "How have you lived so long."
Now that I have become comfortable with writing online I want to share this knowledge with who ever is lucky enough, serious enough and smart enough to read, pay attention and benefit from the information
These days, due to new discoveries in health, science and medicine, how long you live can be, to a significant level, up to you. So that is step one to a long life.
Determine - How long you want to live.
This is one of the common things that elderly people who have lived to over one hundred years of age have told me. They set a goal at some point in their live that determined a path of habit and behavior they would follow in order to reach the age that they wanted.
Some wanted to see the children of their grandchildren. Some wanted to be in a photograph with five or six generations of their family all in life with happiness together. What ever the reason for the goal, it determined how long they needed to live.
Commitment
The next most important thing is commitment. If you dedicate just 3 minutes of your time per day to achieving your life's age goal you can add 10 years to your life.If you dedicate 18 minutes of your time per day to achieving your life's age goal it is possible to add 16 years to the life you will live based on the habits of life that you have today.
If you dedicate one hour a day you could add 20 additional healthy years or more to your life. This extra time to live and enjoy life will possible because of the healthier habits you are going to develop.
Being Alive Means Feeling Good
It does no good if you are alive but in pain constantly or often sick. Being alive means "feeling good or even great" most of the time. Feeling great means feeling full of energy. It means having strong muscles, effective digestive system, and freedom from stiffness of joints or pain in bone structures.
Anyone can add years to their life. It's your choice. Once you have a mental goal and attitude about what your life's age will be, you are ready to start reaping benefits from gains in science and nutritional advances.
In addition to the proper mental attitude you also have the benefit of all the studies in the last 20 years on nutritional supplements and the benefits they provide. Taking the proper nutritional supplements in the proper dosage is the easiest thing you can do to improve and maintain your health.
Twenty five years ago several totally independent studies were made that showed taking vitamin E long term, which means over 30 months will cut your risk of heart attack in half. These studies were done all over the world, with all types of patients.
One study was done in Asia with over 30,000 participants. These people were lower income and had, in their country, the highest rates of cancer of the throat and stomach. The participants that took daily doses of vitamin E, beta carotene and selenium had 10% fewer deaths than those who took placebo dosages.
These three supplements, vitamin E, beta carotene and selenium are call anti oxidants. They are found in our food but often the way we prepare our food destroys them. We either need to learn to prepare the food to maximize the anti oxidants we get from our food or we need to take supplements. The best plan is to do both. Anti oxidants are the biggest discovery in health science in the last 75 years.
Anti oxidants are the key to prevention of cancer, heart disease, arthritis and many other diseases. You should take vitamin E supplements from 100 to 400 mg per day, depending on your body weight. There has never been any toxic effect reported from taking daily vitamin E supplements.
You should take 100 mcg a day of Selenium and 50mg a day of beta carotene as part of your anti-oxidant disease fighting strategy.
Why does this help you attain your life's age goal? It helps because it is the most powerful yet easiest thing that you can do. By taking anti oxidants you will neutralize the things in your body and your environment that are causing disease and aging.
Some of the elderly persons I met in my travels did not know why the lived long. When I talked to them I asked them, what did they eat, did they smoke, etc. Now as the years have gone by I see patterns in the information. Many of them were getting important anti oxidants because of the special fruits and vegetables that were naturally part of their diet. In addition it was the way they were eating and the way they prepared and ate these foods that was significant in getting the most anti oxidant benefit out of the food.
If you do not do anything else from this fountain of youth knowledge gained from these elderly people please make sure you take the pills mentioned above plus one more super pill.
For those of you constantly fighting problems controling your weight it may be necessary to check with a doctor. First, however, try this supplement and see if you get results.
Take a tablet, 200 milligrams (mcg) of chromium picolinate a day. This supplement allows your body to be more efficient at converting sugar and fat into energy. If you take this every day in less than two weeks you will be astounded at the extra energy you feel. Many persons also gain a more balanced function of their body and start loosing weight without going on a special diet. Did you understand what you were just told?
This little pill allows your body to process sugars and fats easier while you sleep. This means that effectively it is possible to begin weight reduction while you are sleeping. Chromium balances you metabolism and effects more effective digestion of the food you eat. Chromium is a fat burner so taking it does not add in any way to your spare tire. Chromium in amounts up to 200 mcg are perfectly safe to take with no negative side effects. The positive side effects are what we are after.
Despite what some doctors would tell you. In the last 20 years there have been over 30 studies that have proven beta carotene, another anti oxidant we talked about, reduces incidence of several types of cancer.
Taking the supplements mentioned in this article will not take you more that a few minutes a day and that puts you on track to add a minimum of 10 years to your life.
