How to Lose My Belly!

What a Classic Struggle!! For so many Men and Women there is a huge struggle in the question “How to Lose My Belly!” Since Men tend to hold a large portion of their excess body weight in their bellies, this particular question for men usually relates to a sizable substantial weight loss. For women, this question usually has a different meaning. For women, belly fat often refers to that final 5 or 8 lbs of body fat that collects in a small area under the belly button and the need to lose that is the only thing that stands between her and a comfortable eye-catching walking down the beach!!

So, I thought I would share some thoughts for men and women who are asking this question.

How To Lose My Belly!

WOMEN:

I can understand how this is a particularly hard struggle. As a male, I struggle with belly fat in a completely different way. But I have seen this struggle in women that I have been close to in life. It has been my experience, that there are 2 important things to consider when getting that last bit of belly to fade away. First, develop a strict diet. When you are only a few pounds from where you want to be the diet is very important. You have to find a proper blend of limiting calories to a healthy level, and eating proper calories to maximize the effectiveness of your workouts. I would probably start with a diet in the 1,200 calorie range with plenty of water, only protein and vege's for dinner, and some form of energy bar before workouts. This “blend” will probably need personalized though, but this is a good start. Second, focused exercise. The belly area is a particularly difficult area to master. Even individuals with a healthy weight will not necessary have a toned stomach. Because of this, its important take time in our weekly workout schedule to focus specifically on the stomach. My wife has found success and enjoyment from using some moderately cheap exercise videos featuring pilates/yoga style movements that were focused on her “belly” area. I will try to get the Amazon tool below to feature some of them if I can. If you are a woman and you are reading this thinking: “No, I am thinking I need a more complete plan in order for me to succeed here.” I understand completely, Me too! Hahaha. MEN:

The Beer Gut! The Belly Laughs! The YouTube Videos! The Belly Flop! There sure has been a lot of culture around the big belly of the fat guy. Too bad none of it really makes any of us feel better about ourselves. The Belly has always been a problem. It makes so much of life harder. Unfortunately, from everything I've read, there really is no secret to losing a belly. I will add one experience of my own though. When I was in college, I lived on the third floor of the dorm. The elevator was almost always shut off, so I had to use the stairs several times a day. So, I thought: “If I am going to use these stairs, I am at least going to get sweet calf muscles out of it.” So, each time I climbed the steps I would step on the edge of the step with my toes and do a calf raise on each step. After 3 or 4 months, I had incredibly toned calf muscles. It would be possible to apply the same concept to the ab muscles. Maybe tighten and release the ab muscles 20 or 30 times every time you get in the car, or while brushing your teeth, or before you go on lunch break everyday. Outside of that... its back to the basics. The belly goes away as body fat is burned from the entire body as a unit. So, the same 2 steps need to be used here as with all weight loss: diet and exercise! I have written several other articles about aspects of those, but if you are looking for a complete diet and exercise plan you can get started with today, Click Here and Get Started!
