Box Brownies or 100% Homemade?

Most people will right away say "NO BOXED BROWNIE MIX" and shudder at the thought.  Other people couldn't survive without brownie mix.  It just makes life that much easier.  Well, even if you hate the boxed stuff, it's still better than buying them premade at the supermarket, right?

Benefits of Boxed Brownies

The benefits of using brownie mix in a box are pretty obvious.  First of all, it's easier.  You don't have to hunt down a recipe and then go get all the ingredients that you don't already have.  WIth a box, you can just go to the store, pick up a box, and check the back of the box for the ingredient list to make sure you have it all.

You don't have to measure out and mix together any of the dry ingredients which skips a lot of work.  You don't realize how long it takes to measure out the sugar, flour, baking powder, etc. Sure, it's not that hard, but why not making it a little easier if you can?

Also, some brownie recipes are a lot more complicated such as melting baker's chocolate and butter or mixing this and that.  WIth a mix, you just add a few eggs, some water, and some oil, and your all set.

Finally, you can get all this done much easier, plus you still get to lick the bowl!

Mmmm...delicious!

What should you bring to the party?

If you are invited to a party or get together and you're asked to bring dessert, what should you bring?  Unless you go to a bakery and pick something up, you can't get any easier while still being delicious than with brownies.

They are easy to make and everyone loves them.  Learn how to make homemade brownies and you just can't go wrong at a party.  Everyone will love your brownies!

Learn how to Make Brownies from Scratch

Do you want to skip the box of brownie mix and make brownies from scratch?  You can do it.  While brownie mix will make it easier, making brownies from scratch isn't as hard as making a souffle.  It's still pretty easy.

First, you need to find a recipe.  Look through your cookbooks or search online for a recipe with good reviews.  Or maybe you can ask around with friends and family.  They might have a recipe that you've tried before and love or that they love.

Make sure you have all the ingredients on the list.  You don't want to get halfway through the recipe only to find out you are missing something.  Double check the recipe before you go and double check the fridge and cabinets to make sure you really have the ingredients you think you have.

Follow the recipe carefully.  Prepare the pan as directed, mix the batter in the right order, and when you pour out the batter into the pan, use a rubber scraper to get every last bit out, of course unless you want to lick the bowl.  In that case, leave a little behind.

Bake in a preheated oven for however long as necessary.  Be careful not to overbake or under bake and use a toothpick to stick it in the middle and make sure it comes out clean.

When they are ready, remove them from then and let them cool completely.  Remove them from the pan and cut into scares.  Frost them if you like, or leave them plain, and enjoy!

Make your Homemade Brownies Extra Special

Do you ever get tired of ordinary chocolate brownies?  Why?  It's so easy to learn how to make homemade brownies extra special.

You can add just about anything to brownies.  Of course, make sure it's something that will taste good.  I'm not suggesting you add onions or chicken to your browines.

You could add chocolate chips or just about any kind of baking chip.  There are so many different kinds of baking chips available now including regular chocolate, peanut butter, white chocolate, rasberry, and many more.

You could also add crushed candies.  Crush some peppermint candy canes for a peppermint flavor, or crush a few of your favorite candybars.

Add in peanut butter or swirl in any other delicious treat such as caramel or butterscotch.  You could also make cheesecake swirl brownies by swirling in some cheescake batter.

It's all about being creative.  Be creative, but don't be too far fetched.  Think sensibly but think delicious!
