The Internet is great for supplying all types of goodies like free Christmas stocking patterns and instructions to download, print out and use, like from that link. And below is a great set of instructions to print out and use, and add to your sewing collection to help you make Christmas stockings for your pets so you can later fill them with treats, toys and other goodies from Santa!

Instructions:

Search for “free Christmas stocking pattern” in Google or other top search engine, or check at the link above to download one form About.com. You may also opt for using an old Christmas stocking you already have on hand – or a cheap one from the local Odd Lots, drug store or Wal-Mart.

Print out your pattern or using a pencil, trace around the stocking you have on hand – adding about a half inch all around - on tracing paper or even just a piece of newspaper. This extra will be your seam allowance.

A) Then select a yard of fabric for your Christmas stocking form either old scraps of new material found at a local store or online. You will also need 1/4 yard of coordinating fabric (could be felt or quilting, etc.) for the stocking’s cuff and matching thread to use for your project.

B) With your stocking fabric lying flat on a hard surface for cutting, fold it lengthwise in half with right sides together. Pin the pattern you’ve printed out or traced to the fabric and cut out your material.

C) Similarly, cut out your stocking’s cuff, measuring an old one or using a patter.

D) Fold cuff and stocking wrong sides together and pin in place, tucking a little of the cuffing underneath so it’s not ragged. Sew along seam.

E) Make a loop for your stocking, if you want to, out of old cording or ribbon you have on hand. Stitch to edge of stocking.

Fill Pet Stockings

Shop online and find cool dog toys to add to your stocking. Pick up doggie ropes, squeak toys, cat nip toys for kitty and more. You’ll find something in nearly every budget range.

Also add some organic dog food packets and treats. Hint: you can even find free dog treat recipes on our other Hubpages! Bake and stuff in your socks.

Happy holidays!
