How to Make a Link Worthy Hub
66How Creating Content has Changed in Driving Traffic
A few years back there were lots of charts that showed the correlation of traffic with how frequently a blogger published new content. Some popular blogs were turning out a couple of dozen posts per day. All for increasing page views.
Now there is so much content out there, that it often just increases the noise by creating a piece of content that doesn't substantially add to the the existing body of knowledge on a topic. So bloggers need to try different tactics to grow traffic.

What Should Bloggers Do Now?
Bloggers need to focus less on churning out piece after piece, although they should still publish regularly. For Hubs, I'd recommend to make three hubs a week for someone that is highly interested in earning significant revenue.
The focus of each blog post now, should be to make a post that is link worthy. Link worthy means that the information is so good, so unique, so timely, so interesting, so useful, that others will link to it.
What Types of Content are Link Worthy?
Content that includes deep analysis with charts, original photos, and videos are link worthy. CityPlus did a very nice hub on the GeneCafe Home Coffee Roaster.
Next, is breaking news. The first with a news story on a sensational event can be very link worthy. We've seen Jimmy's Help Find Madeline McCann hub and Susan Peter's pieces on the dog food recall were newsy and link worthy.

Paul,
Happy New Year to you, Robin and the family....
you said.... "good, so unique, so timely, so interesting, so useful....."I guess that means that if one writes that which is merely or principally esoteric....i.e. poetry,.. there really is no future... from a traffic and earnings perspective.... *laughs* ... ah well... money seems to kinda complicate my life anyway...
Drax
Drax - loved the comment. Poetry can certainly be link worthy. Maybe not the top earner, but i bet 5,000 people a month read your poems on HubPages. Keep'em coming. Hopefully they will bring more poets as well.
Happy New Year!
Well, you did get a returnee and I'll go with Drax on it's not a big earner, but it doesn't bother me.
As all above said, Happy New Year to you and yours.
I need to come back to this to imbibe the whole thing. As a newbie I am finding it hard to learn so many things at a time. Thanks for the informative article.
Paul, thanks for the informative and well written information.
Thanks thats really useful - question - where you have hubs which are seasonal e.g. Xmas, Thanksgiving - is it a good idea to unpublish them until the right time roll around next year - I am thinking they will get no hits so drag down my average hubscore?
Excellent tips for bloggers!
HubPages would work better for blogging on a single subject if (1)the most recent capsule appeared automatically or upon request at the top of the Hub rather than at the bottom, and (2) the addition of a new capsule to an exisitng Hub were noted in "Hubtivity."
Under the current set-up the incentive is to create a new Hub rather than to add to an existing Hub on a given subject. In several other blog forums the reader starts with the most recent entry and can scroll backward and read previous entries on the subject. In HubPages new entries receive no recognition and moving the most recent entry to the top of the Hub requires time and effort.
Bottom line, however, HubPages is technically the best working available site. Congratulations to the team!
Thank you Paul. It's heartening to see that content is still key. I was beginning to dream that content was somehow being superceeded by volume.
@Lissie
We see Christmas Hubs from last year come back and do very well this year. I wouldn't wait on publishing them if they're evergreen in nature.
Thanks for the very useful info, Paul, and happy new year to you and your loved ones.
Thank you for your advice Paul, I will try harder
You have given me impetus for 2008
Good information and very appreciated for a newbie.

Thank you this is helpful for a new Hubber-
Definately excellent tips. I never knew that 3 a week was a hubber's best bet. Interesting. What do you recommend the frequency for a blog?
Three a week is the minimum for people interested in earning money. In general, the more high quality hubs produced, the more income they will generate.
Thanks for your informative hub and congrats for Hubpages being such a great platform for Adsense.
Thank you Paul for the tip.

Paul
This is a whole new experience for me, as I have never posted anything before, so to speak. I have participated on a few BLOGS, but never attempted to branch out on my own. Thank you for making this HUB so user friendly.
Thanks Paul. Like thooghun, I was beginning to observe the volume phenomenon as almost superceding content for people making money. For me as a researcher or browser, I want depth, with truly instructive and thoughtful content (or artistic), not just another round of superficial stuff. There's too much superficiality out there as it is!
I guess that's one of the many reasons I love Hubpages and intend to gear up on Hub writing this year ... the quality you engender... and the encouragement... not to mention the excellent Hub tools and the great people I've met!
Thank you, as always you provide much needed content for the sponges"me" and new hubbers
I never thought of posting poetry to a Hub - another avenue for publication!

As someone creating the very beginnings of a "mini-mini-media empire" (blog, podcast, web sites ...), these tips are great to learn how to create content that will be link-worthy.
I'm glad you mentioned that about 3 posts per week would be good ... cause that's about all I can do at this point!
And I've wondered about people that post several times a day. Unless it's breaking news, how much good stuff is really being posted?
For evergreen content, the bar is higher than many newsy posts in a day is you want to get consistent traffic. However, posting first on a topic is a great way to get links and ensure that you will get traffic for a long period of time if the story does turn out to be long lasting.
