You will need

an Egg or two!

A needle or strong pin

contrasting colors of polymer clay

fine sandpaper

Sculpey clay glaze

To make a marbleized Egg is rather simple and fun.  You will need the items listed next to this capsule. It is possible you may have these items already on hand.

The eggs are very decorative and a good conversation piece.  One warning though, Keep them out of reach of your toddler who will be cracking them open to let out the dinosaur inside!

Poke hole with needle on both ends

Step one

Poke a hole in both ends of the egg. Try not to make the holes too big as they will compromise the strength of the egg. The picture adjacent to this capsule is not a good example because the holes are too big!!

Blow out the yolk into a bowl and fix your self an omelet. I hate to waste don't you?

Run some water through the egg to wash out any remaining yolk

****IMPORTANT TIP*****  Make sure your eggs are dry before you start using the clay.  You may want to put them in an egg container and let them drain a while.  Sculpey clay will not adhere to a wet egg :)

Step Two

Take small pieces of sculpey clay and wrap them together. Use at least on metallic color to produce some depth to the egg. For this egg I chose a bright pink, a black and a copper for my metallic colors. Make sure you knead the colors to get a good pliable consistency.

Step Three

Apply the twisted mushed up color to the egg.  Gently spreading it evenly over the surface of the egg.  You don't want it to be to thick.  If you have lager holes you may have to make the layer of sculpey clay thicker than normal.

*** FUN TIP.. if you want your egg to rattle put a couple of beads inside or pieces of baked clay**

Step four

Bake at 325 for 15 to 20 minutes pending on the thickness of your Sculpey Clay.

After it is cool sand with fine sand paper to reduce any lumps and bring out the colors of the clay.

Clean and coat with sculpey glaze. Let dry!

Makes a nice Easter gift!
