Build a Website Quick and Easy

So let me guess. You need to know how to make a website like yesterday, right? We have all run into this problem at one time or another. You have a huge interview coming up and your potential employer asks if you have a website which highlights your work. Or you sell awesome pastries by word of mouth and a future customer inquires if you have a website so they can order a few items online.

What do you do? Besides, awkwardly answer "Actually, no. I don't." Now you have answer. With the information located in this article you will be able to successfully create a professional looking website in LESS than 24 hours.Years ago it would take a minimum of 48 hrs before your domain would even propagate to the web, but nowadays almost immediately after purchasing your domain and hosting your new site will be active and online. Blank, but online nonetheless.

Step 1: Purchase a domain name. (Time est. 15 min.) The best domains are "keyword optimized". Keyword optimized domains are the creme of the crop. For instance, if you are selling recycled toilet paper, a good domain name for you would be harvestrecycledtoiletpaper.com. I know this is long a weird looking domain name, but the idea is simple. If a visitor types in recycled toilet paper on Google, there is a good chance your site will be populated on the first page if your keywords have a small amount of competition.

This doesn't mean you shouldn't go for something more original. If you already have an awesome name and the domain is available, well just go buy it!

You should expect to pay less than $10 a year for for a domain.

Step 2: Purchase a hosting plan. (Time est. 15 in.) Most hosting service providers will offer 3 options for a shared hosting, a beginner or starter plan, an intermediate or advanced plan, and a business option which may include other goodies like ecommerce software.

Shared hosting plans is a situation where your website will be located on the same computer and several other website. Although you will only have access to your own website files, you will share space and bandwidth with other site. Shared hosting is the best and most affordable for beginners just starting out.

Just be sure to the web hosting provider offers a control panel (via c-Panel) and a one-click install for WordPress called Fantastico.

Purchase your domain and hosting at the same place. It will be much easier in the future to make changes and build your website.

You can expect to pay less than $10 a month for a good hosting service.

Step 4: Google tutorials on how to setup and install WordPress. (Time est. 20 min.) WordPress is the best option for individuals that need to create a website in record time. Choose the tutorial for installing WordPress using the Fantastico installer.

Once you have followed through with the tutorials above you should now have a brand new website similar to the picture below.

Step 5: Find a FREE WordPress theme to install. Feel free to GOOGLE free WordPress Themes (Time est. 30 min.) There are hundreds of WordPress sites that offer themes. Some paid and some free. Just because a WordPress theme is free is doesn't mean it will be poorly crafted. There are tons of high quality WordPress themes available online, click the link above to view a few of my favorites. I tend to favor more simple and clean looking WordPress themes. This enables you to add a bit of your own creativity to your website or blog.

Although you will be tempted to spend a lot of time picking a theme that is just right, but if at all possible try and limit finding a new theme to 30 min. After you have found you theme, download it to your desktop, then proceed to the next step.

Step 6: Automatically install your brand new WordPress Theme. (TIme est. 3 min.) Google how to install a WordPress theme automatically. This step shouldn't take more then a few minutes.

Once you have your theme installed, visit the theme options to customize your website.

Step 7: Great you're just about done! Use the rest of your time to add content (posts, pages, photos and video) to your new site, the admire your work.

If you need any further explanation of any of these steps feel free to visit my blog called BrandBuildSell.com. I explain FOR FREE how to make a website step by step.

Thanks for reading and I wish you happy website building!

If only I could get things done that fast. The method is great and will get most people running with a website in a few hours, it is the tweaking to make it perfect that is time consuming later. Good hub.

I agree Mireille, it's the tweaking that gets most of us. We want everything to be just right, and sometimes we forget that we need to first get people to look at something haha.

Wordpress is a godsend for us technically challenged luddites. It just makes everything so easy, and takes all the brainwork out of the operation. After seeing it all laid out as easy as you have explained, it really makes me wonder how businesses can justify charging thousands of dollars to put together a simple website.

Years ago it took me about 2 weeks of messing with dreamweaver to get a decent website up. And it still looked crappy. With wordpress, it is really simple and easy!
