So you have joined a free online dating site? Great! Now this is the most important part of your online dating journey...choosing the right username, filling out your profile, and uploading a photo. We're going to cover all of these topics by describing your best options.

Usually the first thing that a dating sites asks you is to choose a username. This is crucial! You do NOT want to come across as a pervert, stalker, or worse a loser. Here are some ideas for picking the most suitable and attractive username.

First what do you like? In other words do you have any hobbies? What do you like to do in your spare time? Choosing a username like Sk8BrdrJoe or JazzGrl shows other singles exactly what you like or what you are about. Usernames like these can also help when singles are searching for someone whom shares same or similar interests. When choosing a username make sure that you are not 'Over-the-top'. So many times I see singles who pick such lavish and unwelcoming names that I am scarred to even scroll past them, like LayTEX24, Why? Don't do this to yourself or to others it's just a bad idea. You may think it's cute or even hilarious but to other serious people who are looking for a serious relationship will NOT take You seriously. Get my drift?

Second Filling out your profile. Most of the time when I'm looking at other singles' profiles I see something like this in their Bio...Hiiiiiiiiiiiii:)....Really? Are you that lazy and can't peck at the keyboard to make out a sentence? Come on! How are other potential dates supposed to be interested in you when you don't throw them a bone? Write this down, seriously write it on a Post-it and put it on your monitor...Honest and complete profiles create honest and complete connections. That's all you need to know when filling out your profile. Make sure you write about what you enjoy the most out of life, if you have kids, are you a workaholic, etc. That way when Mr. or Miss Right comes along and reads your 'honest and complete' profile she or he can relate and become interested in you.

Third Picking the right picture. This is one of the most important parts of online dating. Let's first cover the Don'ts when choosing a picture.

1. Less is More=Meaning if you are half nude or completely nude in your picture 9 times out of ten the photo will get deleted from the site. Unless your on an Adult dating site and that's just your thing. But if you are on a dating site seeking a serious relationship don't do this, don't waste your time because it will only attract the sickos and perves. This goes for the guys too, you know who you are, so many times I have seen the 'one-eyed-snake' pictures that scare the sh%# out of me because it takes me a second to make out what it is. If your clothed it gives the opposite sex, or in some cases the same-sex, a bit of imagination of what you might look like nude which creates a mysteriousness about you. This is what you want to accomplish while dating online because it will make your suitors wanting more.

2. Being in a picture with other guys or girls. A lot of times I see singles in photos with either women or men latched around their neck. Let me paint you a picture coming from a girl's point-of-view. I'm single and looking for a guy on a dating site and I come across a decent looking man with three girls in the background, I can't completely make out the picture so I click on it and it's clear that the three girls are very close to him. My first thought is this dude is a Man-Whore, so I leave his profile and move on. I could have been the One! But this guy will never know because he chose the Wrong picture. Shame.

3. Being in a picture with guys And girls. Even if you are in the picture with your mom, dad, sister, or bro. Your mom, dad, sister, or bro might not like the idea of you putting their faces on a dating site because they may be married or whatever. This is also confusing to other singles because how do they know which one is you?

So when uploading a picture to a dating website, make sure it is just you fully clothed. I recommend having a few pictures of yourself possibly pictures of you at the beach, or doing what you like best. I.e. you surfing, snowboarding, whatever compliments you and your personality.
