Owning an iTouch gives you the ability to listen to music, watch videos and take advantage of WiFi hot spots around your area.  One of the unique features of the iTouch gives you the ability to download music, videos, podcasts, applications and more as long as you are connected to the Internet.  Unlike the iPod itself, you do not necessarily have to be connected to your computer and iTunes to add applications to the iTouch.

However, as you begin downloading applications, you may not like how the layout of your home screen looks. You may want to group certain applications together, change your main application buttons or just switch things around. In order to do this, you simply hold down any application button for three to five seconds. They will begin jiggling in place, each with a small X in the upper left hand corner of each item. If you click the X, you will be able to uninstall a given application. During that process, you will also be given the opportunity to rate the application on a one to five scale.

If you are not looking to uninstall an application on your iTouch, you can simply hold your finger down on a particular application and drag it to the place on your screen you want it to sit. Unfortunately, as of now, you cannot have an application stand alone on the home screen. So, if you want to drag an application to sit by itself in say the bottom corner of the screen, it will automatically place itself behind the last application. Once you have moved around your applications, you simply tap the home button to set them in place.

The applications on the home screen are not the only ones that can be swapped out and moved around.  You can also change the main application buttons – the four at the bottom on the banner – and put whatever else you want in their place.  The main applications cannot be uninstalled or rated like other third party applications installed.  Moving around applications on the iTouch gives you control over what you use the most so take advantage of being able to organize your applications the way you want.

Great clear instructions. My biggest problem with Apple is if you have a question you might as well submit to a full body scan for all its aggravation.

Thanks for the help !
