Out Servicing the Competition

As the aging population becomes more savvy when it comes to spending their money, they gain more control over how businesses serve their needs. Whether their money is spent on a service or product, many will look for quality, competitive pricing and great customer service. And those business that provide all of these services at the highest level will be successful.

Now, everyone knows that you can't please everyone all of the time, but you can do your best to get and keep customers by providing excellent customer service first from the beginning.

  • Accommodate the customer. Maybe your customers need delivery service to their home or office. Find anyway you can to make the customer feel important while filling their needs.
  • Implement a friendly and comfortable atmosphere. Make everything as easy and convenient as possible from the order process to providing the product or service.
  • Employ knowledgeable staff. Have people on board that know the ins and outs of your products or services.
  • Competitive pricing. Know what your competition charges and price your service or product accordingly. Larger stores have the ability to provide lower prices since they have bulk buying power. However, if you provide more benefits like those provided in this list, you'll be ahead of the game.
  • Provide service after the sale. If a customer has a product that breaks down, offer a loaner while the theirs is repaired.

Going the extra mile for your customer will keep that customer coming back in the future, as well as provide more word-of-mouth business than you can ever imagine. People will tell others of their great experience and that is the best advertisement you can have.
