When changing jobs, it is always a good idea to know what salary someone with your skill-set should be demanding. This information is often hard to find because people generally don't like talking about how much money they make and it is considered rude to ask someone how much money they make.
A new site has just launched that allows people to anonymously disclose their company, role and salary for people looking to research salaries. The site is called glassdoor.com and the way it works is you spend about 5 minutes of your time writing an employer review, posting your salary, or both. The posts you make are totally anonymous and it costs nothing. Once you have done this you are free to brows other peoples reviews, participate in discussions about companies, roles and salaries which ultimately helps you make smart decisions when job seeking or pursuing a salary review.
If you don't sign up with glassdoor.com right away, you can still browse some of the site and see salaries for employees at Google and Microsoft plus a few more to get you hooked. Once you are in, it boasts reviews and salaries for over 250 different companies!
This really is a great free service and truly gives you vital salary information that you need when negotiating with potential employers.
