When planting flower seeds the soil must be fertile and well drained. Seeds germinate usually in 1 to 3 weeks. Fork over the soil and remove as many weed as possible before planting. If difficult or deep-rooted weed are present remove the roots as you fork over the soil to loosen them. After digging over the soil, rake the ground level before putting in seeds breaking down large clog of soil at the same time. Seed such as balsam plant are easy to plant. You can recognize the already matured fruit that is yellowish in color. Once press the fruit explode dispersing the seeds all over. Just throw the seed to the moist ground and it would germinate easily within one or two week. Planting the seeds of sunflower on the other hand is opposite. It is better to germinate the seeds first before you really plant it in some place. It is noted that the first seed that have sprouted is most likely to be healthy.

When planting flower seeds in the flowerpot it is better to mix the soil with fertilized soil and make it moist before putting the flower seeds inside. It is better not to expose the seed under the hot sun. Water it regularly so that the soil is consistently moist and not turn hard. Some of the flower seeds are prone to fungicides so to prevent it from being spoiled, it is better to mix the seed with anti-fungicide before planting them. With this you can be sure that the seed would definitely germinate. Flower seed are similar to vegetables seeds in the sense that due care should be taken when planting it. If you want to plant flower seeds on the same place you planted it before it is better to check the acidity of the soils. Normally the soils turn acidic after it has been used for planting something. By adding alkaline to neutralize the soil you can be sure that you can use that similar place again for planting flowers.

Add some fertilizer to enhance the nutrients of the soil. That is why when planting flowers on the same flower pot the soil should be taken out and mix it with fertilizer or you can obtain the ready mixed soil sold in the nursery. The ready mixed soil consisted of normal soil and burned soil or mixed with chicken dung. It is well known that this way is cheaper and very rich in nutrients. Another cheaper way to plant flower seeds or vegetables seeds is to use the soil that has been mixed with waste vegetables or waste food that has been thrown away. In this way the soil turn composite so there are high chances that the seed germinates and become a healthy flower. If planting of seeds is during dry season make sure it is watered daily usually in the evening time and put some shed because young plants would not survive under the hot sun. But if the soil is consistently moist you can partially shed them.

Stem cutting is another method of planting flowers and in fact most flowers are planted by way of stem, which is easy and fast. Flower like Morning glory are normally propagated either by seeds or stem. Some flower seeds are too minute and extreme care is needed to handle and store them. So when planting this minute seeds much effort is needed to identify those healthy seeds. Sometimes chances play the role here. It is better to check around and seek consultation before you start to plant the flower seeds. There are several arena and resources in the Internet that teach and advise you the art of horticulture.

I have planted some flower-seeds a couple of days back. I am trying my hand at gardening for the first time and so I have a few questions. I was wondering whether I should be turning the soil lightly as well, besides keeping the soil moist. But what I am afraid of is digging out the seeds in the process. I planted some sunflower seeds but I noticed in the morning today (Wednesday) that there were some brownish hollow skins in the shape of the sunflower seeds lying on top of the soil. Is that normal? I am writing from Madison, Wisconsin. On Saturday, just after I planted my seeds, the temperature went down drastically! Today it is better (as in, the sun is shining but the weather is not that warm yet) but I am afraid that the damage may have already been done. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
