PUB GOLF HOW TO PLAY GUIDE & SCORECARD
A good event for University Friends, Societies, Clubs, and Halls of Residence.
i have produced PDF downloads for the guide that contains all the information and material you need to hold a Pub Golf event.
Setting up a Pub Golf Event
Step 1: decide on a date and time for the event. i love uni Pub Golf is played over 9 holes because if the event’s played correctly you’ll be on the floor by then and unable to finish 18!
Step 2: decide upon what pubs/bars you are going to and in what order.
Step 3: tell/email everyone inviting them to sign-up/come to the event*.
Step 4: put up promotional posters on notice boards.
*Please note ALL players must be dressed in suitable golf attire to participate in the event. An Official also needs to be appointed to regulate the events running and enforce any penalty shot for misconduct of the rules.
On the night of the Pub Golf Event
Step 5: pair players up in twos and give them a scorecard and pen each. On the scorecard they will mark down their own score and the score of their partner for each hole, including any penalty strokes for misconduct.
Step 6: read out the Rules and Regulations of the game at the first hole, found on the scorecard, so that players are aware of how the game is played. Also inform players of where each hole’s to be played, places can be written on the Scorecard.
Step 7: Play Pub Golf!
After the Pub Golf Event
Step 8: once the 9 holes are completed players must add-up their own score and partner’s and then hand the Scorecard to the Official who’ll go through them all to find the winner/s. The winner is the player with the lowest score once all stroke penalties, if any, have been added.
Step 9: announce the winner/s of the Pub Golf Event – a winner for the guys and a winner for the girls!
Pub Golf Rules and Regulations
Aim:
To drink your drinks in as few sips* as possible.
*A sip is continuously drinking until you either have to stop or the drink is finished.
Rules and Regulations:
- Players must be dressed in suitable golf attire. Those not dressed in suitable golf attire will receive a TWO stroke penalty.
- ALL players must drink in front of their playing partner to verify their score.
- A TWO stroke penalty will be given to players found cheating; such as spilling their drink on purpose.
- Holes can last no longer than 10 minutes once everyone has a drink.
- Up to a THREE stroke penalty can be given to players for slow play on a hole if they are stopping ALL other competitors from moving onto the next hole.
- Players must play ALL holes and holes are to be played at the same time as the other competitors.
- ALL players must drink the same type of drink specified on the Scorecard for that particular hole.
- Once a player has finished the hole they must wait for ALL other competitors to finish before moving on to the next hole.
- If a player is unable to finish their drink at the hole they will be scored a 12 on their Scorecard.
- Players can only go to the toilet before they get a drink or after they’ve finished their drink. A TWO stroke penalty will be given to players that go to the toilet during their drink or with their drink.
- A THREE stroke penalty will be given to players that are sick at a hole after their drink. Players are however allowed to be sick without penalty when they are travelling from one hole to the other with their fellow competitors.
- In the event of a tie a play-off will be played until a winner is found unless the players are happy to share the Pub Golf Championship title.
*Penalty stokes are added to relevant hole scores
