As more and more people share pictures, videos and thoughts on Facebook, more and more people are spending time playing the many addicting games that come along. Farkle is a game that has really the potential for a serious addiction. It has many people rolling the dice all day long attempting to reach high scores. Add in a little bit of competition, since all your friend's scores are posted on the leader-board, and you have the ideal recipe for spending the whole day Farkling the hours away..

In order to score high on Farkle you need a combination of luck, quick thinking and some common sense. Many times you may be found at a cross road, not knowing if you should take a risk or play it safe and take what you get. These choices are often what makes this game quite addicting and at the same time unnerving because you never know what to ultimately expect.

In order to play Farkle you must be accustomed to some of the rules. You are given 6 dice to roll at your first attempt. To throw the dice click on the Farkle dice holder, to get the points click on the points found in the upper left. where the red arrow is pointing. In order to get the points your throws must gain you a minimum of 300 points. Then as you select combinations you will find yourself with less and less dice to throw. Following is a run down of the combinations and scores you should expect.

  • 1 is worth 100 points
  • 5 is worth 50 points

Now to combinations:

  • If you get 3 dices with 1's you get 1000 points
  • If you get 3 dices with 2's you will get 200 points
  • If you get 3 dices with 3's you will get 300 points
  • If you get 3 dices with 4's you get 400 points
  • If you get 3 dices with 5's you get 500 points
  • If you get 3 dices with 6's you get 600 points

Now the game is not only based in getting 3 dices with the same numbers. There are also other combinations:

  • Getting 6 dice in crescent order such as 1,2,3,4,5,6, will give you 1,500 points
  • Getting 3 sets of pairs such as 1,1,2,2,5,5, will give you 750 points
  • Getting multiple dice with the same numbers will double the gains. For instance, if you get 2,2,2,2, you will get respectively 200 for the three 2's and then you will double that which means you will get an additional 200 therefore making you gain 400.

However, Farkle is not all about gaining points. You may at times not make any points at all or you may even lose some. A Farkle occurs when you do not get any 1's or 5's. If you get three Farkles in a row you will lose 500 points.

How to Score High on Farkle

Because Farkle is more a game that relies on luck, there are not really many strategies that can prove to be worthy. However, here are some things to keep in consideration:

  • Getting a lot of double 5's each time you throw may make it difficult to reach 300 without getting a Farkle. Sometimes it is best not to get more than one. For instance if you get 2,3,5,5,6 you may want to take a chance of getting only one 5. This leaves you with other 4 dice that ups your chances of getting a better score.
  • In order to compete with other players on Facebook you must pay or either wait until you reach 10,000 chips. A way to expedite this collection of chips is to ask your facebook friends that are playing Farkle as well to send you 100 chips per day.
  • Do not get discouraged if the game starts with a Farkle or two because Farkle is an unpredictable game, sometimes you may recuperate and score even better than when you do not get any Farkles.
  • Try not to be too greedy! There are so many times you will resent it!
  • However, if you are trying to compete against a friend that has a high score on leaderboard, in this case you may take some risks on your last shots.

I play farkle on Facebook and now am on the pro game. On score board of game it says NaN. Do you know what that means?

I know NAN stands for ''not a number'' in the computer world, not sure how it applies on the scorecard however.

Don't forget that getting six 1s is the best roll in the game. 4,000 points baby! Super rare though... I've played hundreds of games and only gotten this roll once, and I've seen someone else get it once, for a total of seeing it twice. Some people never see it.
