How to Possess the Key to Everything
61I am an auditory learner. I grew up on a farm in rural Philippines and we only had radios. There was no electricity. I can remember listening to "The Voice of America" and a show called "The Heart is a Lonely Hunter" I was too young to relate to the romantic side of it, but I loved the music. I know it is by one of the classical composers but who it is escapes me right now.
The heart, truly is a lonely hunter. To hunt is not it's function. Its function is to give freely, without bounds and without expectations. Its function is to love unconditionally.
Unconditional love is the key to everything: every material desire, every relationship desire, literally, everything. To arrive there one must work a lot.on oneself.
To arrive at that space we have to let go of all our egoistic identifications. We can pray, meditate, do yoga, the only object of which is to arrive at a perfect union with the Divine. There is no other way. Literally and figuratively it is the key to everything.
The heart is at the center of chakras whether coming up or down from the base to the seventh chakra. It is possible to open the third eye by using mantras. It is where all the psychic powers can be had, and yet, when the heart is not open then we are still on child’s play, fulfilling egoistic needs with our psychic powers
Nobody wants to block the heart consciously, and yet every time our egos get pricked and we respond to it , it is a heart blockage. We need to release everything.
In the past six weeks, I have been only “Listening to My Heart.”
To get there I had to relate to the intense pain of looking within. While in deep meditations over many years, I experienced involuntary tears coming from my eyes a great number of times. I know this is a form of release for all of the pains I either dismissed or refused to acknowledge and all of my unconscious attachments. The tears no longer came after a certain point and I thought, wow, I have graduated from my attachments, finally! I was wrong!
I am a trained scientist and as such trained to only believe what I see, in the form of experiments. Even going through the process of looking within and recognizing where the pain was coming from, I had to look as an observer and look at the experiences with that training. Intense suffering is real, but it is intelligent. I can, at will, dismiss all of if by exhausting everything with the question “Why?” but that would be putting band aid over a very deep gash, and in the long run it would not work. We ALL have to go to the roots of our suffering. It is the first Noble truth. Suffering springs from attachment. All attachments.
This time, when I cried during meditations, I KNEW why I was crying.
To relate to the ego we must work on ourselves via meditation or contemplation or prayer. Do what you think is best for you at the moment and then move on when it is necessary. We honor our paths.
Because I have been a student of spirituality for a long time, I can, at will, go into the Space of Unconditional Love with people I love. I call it a Sacred Space.
When I said at will it is because I choose to do so. Choosing is still ego’s function. This is not what I am talking about. I am talking about being open hearted at times when it is difficult. The ego is so intelligent it can use everything to assert itself and lull us into THINKING we are free. The real test now comes from the heart. Are you able to trust your heart?
I do not recommend that you follow your instincts all the time. It is only at times when there is a conflict between logic and what your heart tells you that you follow your heart. Trust yourself. Trust your feelings. I will always remember the scene from Star Wars when Luke Skywalker was trying to raise his spaceship from the marshes when he landed on Yoda's planet. He could do it at will for a few minutes and it would sink again. Then Yoda said “Trust your feelings, Luke”
I mentioned this because it required that:
1. Luke trusted Yoda
2. Luke did not ask Yoda to do it for him! He could have, just as Peter did when he was sinking whereas before he was walking on water, and he told Jesus Christ, "Lord, I am sinking" at which time Jesus Christ extended a hand.
3. When Luke finally trusted himself, fully, he raised his spaceship from the marshes and off he went. He was finally a Jedi Knight. Not yet a Master. That test was when he faced Darth Vader and left himself completely at the mercy of Darth Vader during the final battle between him and his father. He was vulnerable yet he knew that that was what was needed to be done. In that act, Luke liberated Darth Vader.
To trust the heart? Completely? At first, no. Fear will be everywhere. Your ego will keep on saying “What are you doing? Why are you doing this? Are you crazy?” .Fear is the ego's way to project something in the future based on the past. A projection into the future from the memory of a past. Acknowledge that voice and give it a pat. Your ego is a friend, not an enemy.
How to get there? By the choices that we make, moment to moment, this is awareness. By contemplating on the heart while meditating, by praying for others, by forgiving, continuously, the perceived slights that we encounter day after day, and the most important, letting go of the past.
No matter how glorious or how sad it was, it is in the past. Let it go.
We only have NOW.

Yes, I was writing a friend about this the other night, Someonewhoknows.
I told him that music can move me to tears as does reading something that touches my soul, but I am resilient to physical pain that I did not even cry when I broke a rib.
Intense emotion is a function of the soul.
Thank you for reading the hub.
I guess that's why we hear the saying "the soul crys out"
Oh so true!
A very interesting Hub from the Heart. I enjoyed learning more about your spiritual philosophy. Well done! Thanks for sharing.
Dear James,
Other people choose the path of prayer instead of meditation and to them I said this.
This is what I did every night until I got to a space of absolute surrender when I am able to transcend the logical mind which I trained for oh...so many years, and when that happened I was able to trust, fully and without question.
To choose the path of prayer, it is true "Ask and It is Given" "Knock and it shall be opened" for behind it are three things not mentioned. The things to ask for
1. Absolute surrender to God [this gets rid of all ego based desires] For the Father knows what we need even before we ask.
2. Perfect Faith [this gives perfect detachment]
3. A pure heart [for a heart that is pure is calm, serene, devoid of all evil, rid of everything the the ego desires for itself]
Amen! You have posted a wonderful response that rings true. Thank you.
Great hub, And the years you spent on spiritual work shows how hard it can be.
Tears, yes I understand. when I did shamanic travel the most fruitful trips nearly tore me apart. Hopefully I will not have to go through that again
msorrenson, Wonderful Hub!! Spiritual soul mates as I truly believe whole heartedly everything you've written is truth. Be Blessed!! ~ Kim
Thank you, Kim
Much love,
Melinda
every thing is possible with God
Melinda, thanks for another enlightening lesson on letting go and let peace and fulfillment in.
Sometimes, I while meditating/praying, I find myself crying uncontrollably. I used to restrain myself, but of late I'm just letting go. I feel so much refreshed after that happens, its as if a heavy weight had been lifted off my chest and I find new inspirations and jest throughout my day.
Thanks for helping me see that this is beneficial to my spiritual growth. I continue to aspire for unconditional love for all and in all circumstances, even the not so nice ones.
Blessings.
The synchronicities in my life after I have decided to let go, surrender and focus on the moment are so totally disorienting from the point of view of a logical mind, DynamicS.
All Masters teach us to be in the NOW, in fact, in Zen, the Masters beat you with a stick [smiles]. There is a reason for it. NOW is when we are in full power. To control our minds, to focus on what we want and to let go of the past and let the future take care of itself. To live moment to moment is truly to be in bliss.
The past is gone, the future is yet to be, we LIVE in the NOW.
Much love,
Melinda
Osyjeff and Alex,
I have concluded that the only thing we have to face is our fears. It is truly the exact opposite of unconditional love.
We are programmed to have it as a means of control, very similar to the "Matrix" movie.
In the books by Carlos Castaneda and in the series "Dune", as well as in the movie Star Wars, facing our fear is almost always the ultimate test, and yet when we examine fear, it really has no basis.
This does not mean idiocy. The Laws of the Universe apply to everyone. If we jump in front of a moving truck it will hurt the body.
As long as we keep this in mind, we will, one day, arrive at the space of fearlessness, and that is the ultimate freedom.
Thank you for reading the hub.
"The heart, truly is a lonely hunter. To hunt is not it's function. Its function is to give freely, without bounds and without expectations. Its function is to love unconditionally."
Great truth in your statement above. I have just came to the very same conclusion. I explain it this way. In popular U.S. Culture we are taught about the basic needs. Normally these are based on Maslow's hierarchy of needs.
While I agree that that we all "need" to be accepted and loved, it can only happen when you first learn to give love freely. Its a hard thing for us as a society thats basically driven by a "tit for tat" mentality. If one was to do a little reading they would find that this concept of "giving unconditional love" is found across vastly different theologies and is normally listed as a hard and fast reqirement for "Salvation", "Fullfillment", "Enlightenment", etc. Whats strange is how society seems in large part fixated on "GETTING unconditional love" Like our whole thought process is wrong...trying to grow up, when we should be growing down.... Well Great POST
Regarding our thought process, we are conditioned, programmed in fact to be afraid. This is what the exact opposite of unconditional love is. All negative emotions are rooted in fear, and all positive emotions emanate from love.
Unconditional love is the only thing all religions are teaching, no matter what name we give it and no matter what the process is. All paths lead to it. It is what Jesus Christ represents, what the Buddha represents, what the Divine Mother in India represents, as well as what Kwan Yi in Japan represents.
Thank you for stopping by and contributing.
Unfortunately unconditional love is seen by some as unconditional freedom in negative ways. There can be no freedom without responsability and there can be no responability without love.
I like your thoughts.
Thanks for sharing them -
The world would be a better place if everyone was on the same page of love, friendship and tolerant responsible trust; as this is the true truth trust of the inclusive civil selflessness; the quality attribute and nature of the being mind self in equilibrium balance and unity...
Dear Someonewhoknows and Loua,
I just read a book by Don Miguel Ruiz last night. He is a Toltec Shaman. It is amazing what he said, in so many words.
First he confirmed that we are programmed to be afraid, then the true quest of the warrior is to be fearless and to find unconditional love.
By unconditional love I do not mean absolute freedom.
By unconditional love I meant that we are prepared to do what is necessary, that which is not textbook compassion.
If someone dear to us is doing something that harms him and we are enabling it, then that is idiot compassion.
Unconditional love does not include that.
It means, if we have to, we leave that person to find things out on their own as part of their path. Essentially after we have done everything we can, we let them be.
I agree with you, know what you mean.
Yes, I do, someonewhoknows.
The deceptively simple and short book by Don Miguel Ruiz entitled The Four Agreements outlines the path to unconditional love. Warriorship.
Essentially this is what he said:
1. Be impeccable in your words. Always speak your truth. Your truth may be different from theirs.
2. Don't take anything personally. Do not judge others based on your own filters.
3. Don't make assumptions. If you do not know, ask.
4. Always do your best

That was quite a long and intuitive hub I must say!I believe everyone has had at least one time in their life when they found tears streaming down their face for very emotional reasons that are completely unexpected but often understood for we tend to try to control our emotions for what we might call logical reasons. But,when the heart over flows with emotion tears often follow.
