How to Prepare for Marine Bootcamp - 3 Most Important Points To Remember
74Learning how to prepare for Marine boot camp, there are three important points to remember.
- Try to develop the right mental attitude this will determine your level of success in boot camp especially in the beginning. In the beginning of your training, you will feel as if you were being singled out but this just to ensure that everyone works as a team and a you lose your individuality from day one. when someone starts screaming at you or even if two people start screaming at you at the same time into each ear, just try to remain focused and understand that this is part of your training. It is not because these people hate you. It is because they want to ensure that you become successful soldier that will work as a perfect member of a elite team.
- Besides having the correct psychological attitude, you do have to stop abusing your body before you start in boot camp. If you are a drinker, I suggest that you stop drinking right away. You'll need all the energy that your system can muster up in order to survive boot camp. If you're a smoker, you'll find it very difficult to deal with the cardiovascular training that is involved with boot camp. Get rid of your cigarettes now. Furthermore, if you have the tendency to stay up all night partying, you know what I'm going to tell you to and that is to stop doing this right away. You have to have a clear mind in order to deal with the massive change in your daily life that you encounter during boot camp. Once you arrive at Parris Island, you're no longer an individual, you are the lowest on the totem pole and you will be treated like scum at first and you have to have the ability to focus and to not become frustrated with your superiors. So, try to get at least eight hours of sleep every evening. This will help you healthwise and it also will help your mental state at the same time.
- if you have been spending most are light on the couch watching wrestling and Jerry Springer, stop doing that right now. Every time they have the urge to watch one of those junk programs on TV, I want you to run around your house or apartment building 50 times. A great Marine training tip, is that you have to train yourself to exercise on a regular basis before you go to boot camp. Try doing numerous setups or crunches each and every day. If there is a playground close to where you live, attempt to do chin-ups on a daily basis. I also think that you should get up early every morning and go for a jog for at least 30 minutes. This is going to be very difficult at first, but keep with it and you'll notice that boot camp will end up being a little bit easier for you than for someone that has not been attempting to become more physically fit before arriving at boot camp.
A great program that gives you a detailed game plan to survive boot camp that I recommend highly is at preparing for Marine boot camp.

my son was at Parris island as well in fall of 2006, we got 3, that is it, 3 letters, I read and re read and cried over them, the frst said only that he made a mistake, he wouldnt make it,he missed his wife and should never have left her (their 1st child, a dtr was born the day after he shipped to the island!) the second letter said he hated it, he had been beaten more than once and he was stupid to join. The third said "Today the Staff Saergent killed the civilans in all of us today. It was Awesome! I love you Moma" Graduation, Nov17,06 was wonderful and terrible. Wonderful to see all those wonderful young people so strong and proud, terrible because I could not recognize my own son! I knew his unit! but couldnt find him, I cried so. But he grew two inches in that camp, had pneumonia, still made it all the way and said it was wonderful. He knew all of what your article says before he went, but he was an angry young man when he went in, they gave me back my beautiful, strong, proud, loving son. I miss him and his little family unit but they are where they should be together and we are where we need to be/thank you, sir for this wonderful article, even if it did make me cry (again lol)

Nice hub! Boot camp at Parris Island is tough. Being a Marine mom- I watched what my son went through and it is a tough experience. Your advice is really good.
One thing that I would add- don't lose who you are. The training is very important, but you can't allow yourself to become so desensitized as to lose yourself.
