You will receive an e-mail that confirms the purchase and the charge a little bit later, but you will be able to enjoy the download right away.

As long as you have an iTunes account and a credit card associated with it, you can purchase music on the iTouch on the go. Otherwise, the only way to purchase music is the old fashioned way by syncing your iTouch to your computer and using iTunes that way.
