How to Resize a Picture to Add It to Your Website or Hub
I don't know about you but I use to struggle all the time with how to resize an image and what program should I use?
For resizing I will be using a few different programs to show how they work to show how quickly as well simply some program perform this task.
First off the picture I will use will be one I capture online at the HubPages.com webpage from one of my Hubs. I will go to the web page I want in this case I am going to one of my hubs called Make a Screen Shot Off Your PC Or Laptop.
I will capture this picture quickly by using myPrtScn/SysRq/Insertbutton on my keyboard; it is the third button from the right on the top row. Once you are on the page you want to take a picture from just click that button.
Next I will open my first program called MS Paint. There are a lot of things you can do with this program but we will just talk about resizing a picture to use online or in a hub. Now you should have captured your picture from your online page already. If not open your webpage and use your PrtScn/SysRq/Insertbutton on your keyboard push this button once that has copied your picture for you. Now once you open paint you can select EDIT from the menu bar on the top. You should see the PASTE go ahead & click it.
Next Click your Ctrl button that is on the bottom of your keyboard there are two of them either one will work fine now at the same time click your MINUS sign on your number pad on the right side of your keyboard click the two buttons together ONE time. Now you have resized your picture.
We will save the picture in a folder. Click on FILE then click save as, you should see your picture folders come up in a little popup box now chose the folder you want to save the file in type a name in the box then click save.I named mine Paint.jpg. See the picture on the bottom for an example.

Now on to the next program called Irfanview. If you want to try this program you can open the link above and download it to your computer to try it along with me.Open the program and you should have the picture you chose before from online or where ever you chose, so just go ahead click the EDIT from the top MENU bar then click PASTE your picture should be in your program now. Then you will click on Image then click resize/resample you can resize your image now.I usually resize mine to 500 that size seems to work well for me but you can make it what ever size you'd like. Now we will click on the FILE then click SaveAs or just S will bring up your save box, make sure you are on the folder you want to save to, and then type the name you want to name your image in the popup box click on SaveAs or S button to save it and your done. Here is a sample of my file I named it Irfanview.jpg.

Now if you did capture a picture online from a website go ahead and click on your EDIT button then click on your PASTE AS NEW IMAGE button. Now you can click on IMAGE then click on RESIZE I made mine 500 pixels.

Photo Capsule
As you can see there are many different image editors out there and most work in much the same way. I like to use different programs to see how the results will look on different web pages because not all images come out looking as clear as you want them to look. Armed with the experience I hope this Hub inspires you to check out different programs for yourself. If one program doesn't give you the result you want try another one. There are so many programs and image editors out there you do not have to settle for a program you can not get great image results from.
Add Stuff Stuff
Now we will add or upload our pictures to our Hub on HubPages, you could also upload your picture to a website as well. I will touch on that later. Now you will need to start a new Hub by clicking on your red Arrow bar that says just that Start a new hub.
A window will open now you will see on the right hand side different things you can add to your hub it's called Add More Stuff. Click on Add a Photo.
Scroll to the bottom of your page and you will see an added photo capsule that says edit. Click EDIT then click the third tab you can then click on Choose a File from Your Computer then you can click on load images. Now you know how to upload a photo to your Hub.
Now you can also name the photo if you want to on the top bar that says capsule Subtitle go ahead and type a name for the photo. If you already uploaded a photo and forgot to name it you can go ahead and type a name in the box and click update now your photo will have a name. Now click load images and your image will be uploaded. Now click save.
You can also add a frame around your photo by clicking on the first tab calledDisplay Settings, you can pick from No Border, With Border, Thumbnail or slide show. For a slide show you should add more then one photo.
If you want to add more than one photo you can click on choose a file from your computer, type a name in the capsule subtitle bar then click add to batch list repeat this until you are done adding all your pictures then click on load images. Then you just click save.
The second tab is called Photo Data can choose Maximum Image Size your options are Full Width, Half Width or Quarter width. This will display your picture smaller or larger.
Free Image Hosting
If you want to upload an image to a website you need to know one thing how this is allowed on that certain web site, this information will most likely be found under your help section most every website has one.
Now if the website has an up loaderas most are called it is as simple as the steps above we just went through. If not you can also use a free photo up loader such as this one called Free Image Hosting or photobucket just go make a quick free profile and upload your picture then it will be on the internet now you can use what address you will need to use. Most uploaders have a few different address choices so you can decide what file type you want to use. How you use your picture is up to you. You can use the direct link to add it to a web site or even add the thumbnail address to use it as a smaller picture that people can click on to see the larger picture.
