Salsa is gaining popularity around the world thanks to dance competition shows like Dancing with the Stars. Salsa is invigorating and unique, long known for being the sexiest of ballroom dances.

Learning how to salsa can be fun if you are patient and willing to take the time to practice. The basics of salsa can be quickly mastered allowing you to enjoy dancing and look good on the dance floor. The advanced techniques will take time and additional training .

If you want to learn how to salsa quickly, I suggest watching the following instructional videos or renting / buying instructional DVDs. For more advanced training, try taking a class at a local dance studio. The classes are fun and you'll get a great workout in the process!

The first three videos included here cover the three basic steps used in salsa dancing. Practicing with a partner is preferred, but you could master the footwork on your own and then practice with a partner when you feel ready. I first learned salsa in a class situation without a partner, and found dancing with a partner to be an easy transition. Also, if you are just interested in learning how to salsa for the exercise benefits, you can certainly dance solo!

This next video highlights salsa steps that will be fun to practice and master with your dance partner! Please be patient - you may have to view this several times to get it right.

Hi Amy Jane

I'm all for dancing with the ladies, but I haven't got the Salsa bug yet. I prefer the slow wine or grind as we say in the U.K

Lesley - maybe you should give dancing another try! It's really just about enjoying yourself!

AshleyVictoria - absolutely! That may be the most fun. You need great shoes too. :)

I agree, Mamacoots - my husband hasn't agreed to go to a class with me yet either- not YET. I'm still working on convincing him.

Hi Tripletmom - Salsa is fun and it really makes you feel sexy too. Moms need to feel that now and then. I hope you get to try it out soon!

Paul, I bet you would like salsa. And the ladies would be so impressed. :)
