If you a house owner or if you pay the monthly electric bill of  house, you would know what it means to spend money paying for electricity. It would be great if you can get electricity for free, but that is not possible. Your power provider has to make money to pay its workers, and maintain their equipments to provide better service for its customers.

The cost of electricity increases everyday due to inflation and to other economic factors. And this increases can take a good portion of your paycheck specially if your paycheck doesn't increase. This means that you would have less money to spend on other stuffs such as getting new clothes or going to movies. 1.Turn off Unwanted Electric Appliance :- Any appliance that is not being used needs to be turn off such as your computer, radio, television set and other appliance. This are appliance that uses battery to be powered on or can be started with a push of the button. Appliance that uses a light switch only draw power if the appliance is faulty. This is because once a switch is turned off, the circuit is not complete for it to draw current.

2. Turn off the Air Conditioner or Heater:- If you feeling hot during the summer, wear light clothes (non-think and non-dark). Likewise if you are feeling cold during the winter, you should put on more thick clothings. Only when you cannot bear the heat or the cold, you use either the air conditioner or the heater.

3. Get a a Programmable Thermostat:- Installing a programmable thermostat can help you to save money on your electric bill and it is inexpensive to buy. This thermostat allows you to program your thermostat to adjust the set temperature either to increase or decrease the temperature when you are either sleeping or not at home.

4. Use Energy Efficient appliances:- These are relatively new appliance. They cost more than the traditional appliances at the time of this article, but I believe as the years passes, it get cheap. It also worth it right now because you would save money in the long run. Energy saving appliances can be found in refrigerators, washing machine or dryer.

5. Stop Leakage:- Block any opening under the window or under the door. The air in the room escapes from the room through them.

6. Avoid Peak Hours:- Peak hours are hours that a lot of people would be using power such as the mornings. If you want to do use the washing machine, dryer or dish washer, use them late in the night or very early in the morning. By this time, most people are sleeping.
